Self Improvement And Success

Everything that happens to us happens in purpose. And sometimes, one thing leads to another. Instead of locking yourself up in your cage of fears and crying over past heartaches, embarrassment and failures, treat them as your teachers and they will become your tools in both self improvement and success.

I remember watching Patch Adams – its my favorite movie, actually. Its one great film that will help you improve yourself. Hunter “patch” Adams is a medical student who failed to make it through the board exams. After months of suffering in melancholy, depression and suicidal attempts – he decided to seek for medical attention and voluntarily admitted himself in a psychiatric ward. His months of stay in the hospital led him to meeting different kinds of people. Sick people in that matter. He met a catatonic, a mentally retarded, a schizophrenic and so on. Patch found ways of treating his own ailment and finally realized he has to get back on track. He woke up one morning realizing that after all the failure and pains he has gone through, he still want to become the a doctor. He carries with himself a positive attitude that brought him self improvement and success. He didn’t only improved himself, but also the life of the people around him and the quality of life. Did he succeed? Needless to say, he became the best damn doctor his country has ever known.

So, when does self improvement become synonymous with success? Where do we start? Take these tips, friends…

*Stop thinking and feeling as if you’re a failure, because you’re not. How can others accept you if YOU can’t accept YOU?

*When you see hunks and models on TV, think more on self improvement, not self pitying. Self acceptance is not just about having nice slender legs, or great abs. Concentrate on inner beauty.

*When people feel so down and low about themselves, help them move up. Don’t go down with them. They’ll pull you down further and both of you will end up feeling inferior.

*The world is a large room for lessons, not mistakes. Don’t feel stupid and doomed forever just because you failed on a science quiz. There’s always a next time. Make rooms for self improvement.

*Take things one at a time. You don’t expect black sheep’s to be goody-two-shoes in just a snap of a finger. Self improvement is a one day at a time process.

*Self improvement results to inner stability, personality development and dig this …. SUCCESS. It comes from self confidence, self appreciation and self esteem.

* Set meaningful and achievable goals. Self improvement doesn’t turn you to be the exact replica of Cameron Diaz or Ralph Fiennes. It hopes and aims to result to an improved and better YOU.

*Little things mean BIG to other people. Sometimes, we don’t realize that the little things that we do like a pat on the back, saying “hi” or “hello”, greeting someone “good day” or telling Mr. Smith something like “hey, I love your tie!” are simple things that mean so much to other people. When we’re being appreciative about beautiful things around us and other people, we also become beautiful to them.

*When you’re willing to accept change and go through the process of self improvement, it doesn’t mean that everyone else is. The world is a place where people of different values and attitude hang out. Sometimes, even if you think you and your best friend always like to do the same thing together at the same time, she would most likely decline an invitation for self improvement.

We should always remember that there’s no such thing as ‘over night success’. Its always a wonderful feeling to hold on to the things that you already have now, realizing that those are just one of the things you once wished for. A very nice quote says that “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” We are all here to learn our lessons. Our parents, school teachers, friends, colleagues, officemates, neighbors… they are our teachers. When we open our doors for self improvement, we increase our chances to head to the road of success.

Confessions Of A Self Improvement Addict

Are you a self improvement junkie?

Do you do have more than 3 of the following self help addictions:

Are you on more than 3 self help newsletters?

Do you head for the self help section of your local bookstore?

Do you know "The Secret"?

Are you a loyal follower of Dr. Phil? Dr. Laura? Any self-help guru with a Dr. in front of their name?

How many self improvement books do you own?

How many audio self help programs do you have?

Do you pay for the latest program or book but don't use it consistently for at lea
st 30 days?

I feel your pain. I've been there too. Okay, I'm STILL there.

Fortunately, I've been able to take my addiction and create a business out of it by reviewing self improvement products. Now I get fresh products and books sent to me on a regular basis to review and include on my website or newsletter.

You may not be so fortunate. But don't despair. I am here to tell you that wishing to better yourself is not a bad thing. In fact, man has been searching for enlightenment since the early eastern philosophers like Siddhartha and Confucius.

The individual that is not looking to better themselves likely has very limiting beliefs and is not ready to change. They are the type of people that would benefit most from self improvement. So don't consider your pursuit for self improvement as a bad thing.

The answer is to take action or apply the new information you are learning so you will really see some self improvement. That is the key difference between a self help junkie and a self help performer.

If you are looking to get started in any self improvement arena, start small. Sometimes trying to devote a whole hour a day to meditation, or brainwave entrainment can be too much to fit into your day.

For information about a brand new program that only takes 7 minutes a day to work self improvement thoughts into your subconscious, click on the link below. You'll be taken to a review site for a free 30 trial of this simple yet highly effective program.

Remember, self improvement is an ongoing process but something that requires action - everyday. Use this chance to create some change in your life.

Self Improvement And Success Go Hand In Hand

How do you know if a person is willing to attain self improvement? This is a question with no definite answer. It will all depend on the individual.

Many people have goals, dreams or ambitions but do not know how to go about achieving them. They may have thought about what would make up self improvement and their ideal life, but have no idea how to even begin to make the plans and take the actions required to make them a reality.

Some people have a vague idea on how to go about self improvement. These are the ones that believe that if only they had a better job, or had been given better opportunities, or met the love of their life, or whatever else, everything would be fine and they would be happy.

They feel that their happiness or lack of happiness is decided by external factors and their thoughts and actions are of little consequence.

Some believe that if only they had more money they could have whatever they want and be on their way to self improvement.

They may have spent little time thinking about what they actually want from life, and do not really believe there is anything they can do to create their fuzzy version of utopia anyway, apart from buying more lottery tickets.

Other people do not even know what they actually want from their lives and may even have little idea what would really makes them happy. They seem to just drift from day to day, week to week, month to month, and year to year, and do little more than just about get by.

They may have seemingly secure jobs and be earning enough to live relatively comfortable lives. They seem happy enough and have no great ambition to achieve anything more from their lives than they currently have.

Is self improvement important?

The reality is that throughout our lives we are all constantly growing and developing. Circumstances make us grow and develop, even if we do not make the conscious decision to do so.

Up to a certain age, we learn through formal education and we continue to learn through our experiences for the rest of our lives. We have to learn and grow to deal with everything that life throws at us. We all have to go through self improvement.

Modern life moves at a dramatically faster pace than at anytime in history. For anyone living in modern society there are more opportunities to do anything that you want to do with your life than ever before.

But there is also more competition than ever before, and ever changing technology means that there really are few, if any ‘jobs for life’ anymore. It is now normal not only to change jobs quite often throughout our working lives, but even to completely change careers and industries.

Because the workplace is so competitive, people who are ambitious and hungry for success know they need to learn new skills and knowledge to keep ahead of the pack. To attain this, self improvement is needed.

These are the people that will be most likely to keep their jobs, or progress within their chosen field, or that will be readily employable in different organizations or industries.

A commitment to self improvement and personal growth may well be the deciding factor in how anyone’s future will turn out.

Development Of Society - How It Begins With Self-improvement

What makes otherwise simple and loving individuals a challenge if not, a pain, to live with, when put in an environment not of their own making or different from what they are accustomed to? What drives humans? What makes them inhuman? What is the fundamental aspect that every human being finds difficult to grasp when learning how to fit into society? The answers to these and similar questions are contained in the simple message to social beings by sociologists and researchers who have studied the phenomenon of man living in society as a contributing and responsible part of its development and downfall; they lie in the way man perceives himself and his value to society. These answers can be changed if man makes a conscious decision to change negative aspects of himself, build on the positive aspects of his nature, recognize the weakness and strengths he possesses which can damage him, sift out the wrong influences and work for the greater good of all in society rather than simply work for reasons of self-gain.

Social ways and norms need to be learned by man, who is a by-product of society and needs to attune his outlook and actions as society deems right and fit.

Of course, one also understands that man is also an emotional being and has various deep rooted feelings that dictate the path he should take; nobody wants to be a slave to their emotions and so to avoid any instance of drudgery, man needs to be the captain of his ship i.e. his Life's ship! He needs to always sit in the driver’s seat and take charge of his life, raise emotional competency levels so as to clearly see solutions with problems and in the process be able to discover hidden qualities in himself so as to benefit self and society! This is the real meaning of life, of finding a self-identity that is worthy of being a part of society and finding the strength as well as the means to improve and develop the societal norms and conditions that are vital for overall well-being of society and the world.

A few of the ways in which one can effectively ensure that one fits into the social frame-work in such a way that it benefits the society as well as builds positive self-identity is to go in for a complete attitude change, if necessary. This means questioning exiting beliefs, switching to better values, keeping the lesson but throwing away the experience when negative things happen and journaling good thoughts on paper so these re-affirm the individual's faith each time he reads it.

One can also learn to guide the mind towards positive, healing and empowering decision-making by learning how to build focus and learning how to relax thereafter; yoga, silent meditation, playing mind puzzles are some ways to relieve stress and build a higher sense of consciousness that will in turn, expand memory and awareness both.

Crash Course 7-day Program To Self-improvement

I seem to lost count on how many times I've read and heard of celebrity marriages failing almost left and right. Not that I care (and personally I don't), it seems strange that we often see movie and TV stars as flawless people, living the fairytale life of riches and glamour. I suppose we all have to stop sticking our heads in the clouds and face reality.

There are many ways to lose your sense of self-esteem despite of how trivial it could get. But whatever happens, we should all try not to lose our own sense of self.

So what does it take to be a cut above the rest? Here are some of the things you can think and improve on that should be enough for a week.

Day 1: Know your purpose.

Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

This may seem tricky at first when you see yourself to be in a tight or even dead end. But there's always that little loophole to turn things around and you can make a big difference to yourself.

Day 2: Know your values.

What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for 2005 - check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn't align with any of your top five values - you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn't discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

Day 3: Know your needs.

Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself. Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it's too late!

Day 4: Know your passions.

You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

Day 5: Live from the inside out.

Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers it's hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There's sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

Day 6: Honor your strengths.

What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three - if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

Day 7: Serve others.

When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn't always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.

Self-improvement – 5 Questions To Ask Yourself Before You Change

Self-improvement is improving yourself for your own sake. May it be your confidence, self-esteem, your looks...whatever you want to change about yourself. To change yourself however, you must know what you want to change and this means understanding yourself. In this article discover 5 questions you should ask yourself to see what you need to change about yourself.

1. Am I happy at where I am today?

Do you feel good with what you have done? What you have achieved? If not then change it. Do something you can be proud of. It doesn’t have to be something big, it can be something small like be a more loving person.

2. Am I appealing to the opposite sex?

Many people go through self-improvement because they feel they are unattractive. This can easily be changed. Change what you wear, your personality and maybe your looks if you feel that is the only way around it.

3. How much could I have?

This doesn’t have to be a financial question it can be a question for anything. The main thing you have to realise this question is it says “could”. If you look at this from a financial perspective I bet you could make millions but are you willing to work that hard?

4. What motivates me?

Motivation is the key to a happy life. If you are motivated you can amaze yourself at what you can do. For example your motivation might be losing some weight and putting on some muscle for the next time you go to the beach and to achieve that goal you will go to the gym and exercise to reach your goal.

5. Should I really change?

This is the most vital question to self improvement. Do you really NEED to change? If so what are you looking to change, maybe it’s the fact that you are too shy or maybe you want to change your appearance and maybe even your personality. If you know what you want to change you can start improving it straight away.

Ask yourself these 5 questions as they will guide you into what you need to change. Many people may decide not to change because they feel that by doing so they become someone else.

Memory Improvement Through Self Hypnosis

Most people shudder when they hear the word 'hypnosis'. They relate the word to a situation where a hypnotist gets to make people, who are plucked from a show audience, to do all sorts of stupid things like clucking and strutting around like a chicken. Most people are quite afraid of the prospect of being under the control of another person and so they are reluctant to be hypnotized.
You can however control your own hypnosis and through self hypnosis you can help yourself in so many ways. For example self hypnosis can help you stop smoking, stop binge eating, can also help you control outbreaks of depression and it can also assist with your memory improvement.

Memory improvement through self hypnosis can be achieved by breaking down the mental blockages that are hindering you from adequately remembering things. First off you must master the art of self hypnosis. Then, once you are able to engage in self hypnosis you will be able to control a wide variety of problem areas and can go about correcting them (including your memory capabilities).

There are various DVDs, videos and audio tapes that are able to purchase that can guide you through the process of self hypnosis. They vary in content but generally they will give you a step by step instruction in the art of relaxation which is one of the keys to mastering self hypnosis. Once you are in a relaxed state you will then be able to direct your subconscious to improve your memory.

Take Yourself Into A State Of Total Relaxation

If you would like to trial the process before going out and buying DVDs or manuals on the subject here is a simple way to try self hypnosis. To start the process of memory improvement through self hypnosis, firstly you must close your eyes and relax your body completely. You should breathe deeply and methodically until your heart beat slows. If you are having trouble relaxing, why not imagine that you can control each and every part of your body. You tell each individual part of your body to relax beginning with your toes all the way to your head. Once you feel that you are in a relaxed state, count down backwards from twenty to zero. It helps to imagine you are standing at the top of a staircase and each time you count you see yourself walking down the staircase. By the time you reach zero and you have reached the bottom of the staircase you should be in a strong enough trance to begin working on your memory improvement through self hypnosis.

Commanding Yourself

You can begin to improve your memory by self hypnosis once you are in a completely relaxed and hypnotic state. All you really have to do is repeat to yourself that you want to improve your memory. You instruct your mind that whenever you hear or read something you will have no problem retrieving that information when you need to. You can also tell yourself that all of the blockages you are experiencing which contribute to keeping you from remembering things will dissolve away. This is a great way to improve your memory and it really works

When you engage in self hypnosis and you begin speaking to yourself, you are speaking to your subconscious. This is how hypnotists are able to get you to do things you normally would not do because they are able to access your subconscious mind. For self hypnosis to be most effective you must truly believe that it is possible to use self hypnosis in a positive and helpful way and believe that it works. This belief and acceptance are the most important steps in this entire process.

Once you master the art of self hypnosis and start to apply it on a regular basis you will begin to remember more than you ever imagined possible. So why not lie down, close your eyes, breathe rhythmically and begin your journey of memory improvement through self hypnosis now.

Inspirational Messages: Motivation, The Heart Of Self Improvement

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z…

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B - Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.

E – Enjoy. Work as if you don’t need money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends – are life’s greatest ‘F’ treasures. Don’t loose sight of them.

G – Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.

H – Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people – the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.

J – Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K – keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.

L – Learn to love your self. Now isn’t that easy?

M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways – how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.

Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate – are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?

R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn’t raining when Noah build the ark.

S – Stop procrastinating.

T – Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.

V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.

X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on “extras” on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you’re just going to spend it once.

Z – Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

Some Books To Read For Self Improvement

You have got to motivate yourself in order to motivate others. If you do not know how, then it is time to browse through some self improvement books on how to go about it.

Read on a few self improvement books...Here are a few:

1. 21 Indispensable Qualities of Leadership: Becoming the Leader Others Will Follow John C. Maxwell

Why do some people consistently inspire others to follow their lead? In this self improvement book, the author identifies these top traits as character, charisma, commitment, communication, competence, courage, discernment, focus, generosity, initiative, listening, passion, positive attitude, problem-solving, relationships, responsibility, security, self-discipline, servanthood, teachability, and vision.

Maxwell breaks down leadership qualities into easy to understand character qualities. Character is what defines a leader, and these traits are what people of character have. A must-read for leaders in any position.

2. Discover Your Strengths Marcus Buckingham

The self improvement book that helps you find what you are strong in and encourages you to work to make those stronger. That instead of working against what you know you're good at. You can also take the personal survey that is in the book.

3. Five Patterns of Extraordinary Careers Spencer Stuart

A remarkable book about how to stand out from your peers and have a better career. One lesson learned: It is better to ask for forgiveness after the fact than it is to ask for permission ahead of time.

4. Who Moved My Cheese? Spencer Johnson

Of course, what book list would be complete without this self improvement book that is all about change. Another book that is well worth the listen, but also worth reading.

5. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Steven Covey

Another must have in your self improvement book collection. If you like to read a lot of books, you are practicing one of Covey's habits, "sharpening the saw."

6. How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci Discover Your Genius: How to Think Like History's Ten Most Revolutionary Minds Michael Gelb

This self improvement book helps you to think more creatively and be more artistic. These factors are important no matter what position you may be in.

7. The Brand You 50 Re-imagine Pursuit of Wow! Tom Peters

A motivational book urging readers to achieve more.

8. What Should I Do With My Life? Po Bronson

A self improvement book that tells us that it is okay not to know what you want to do. That even the people we think are completely happy may not be. And that we make our own happiness, it all depends on how you deal with it.

9. Rhinoceros Success Scott Alexander

This was recommended to me by my last manager. An incredibly quick read. The book is all about leading, and how sometimes you have to do the unpopular to make a difference and stand out as a leader. Be a rhino!

10. Advanced Rhinocerology Scott Alexander

A nice sequel to Rhinocerous Success that you will also enjoy. A few things it reminded me of is that leaders are often under attack from all sides, and it's important to watch your own back because often nobody else will.

These are just some of the more popular self improvement books you can check out whenever you want answers to questions you have been keeping inside for too long.

Join The Self Improvement Association

It was John Dunne who first wrote; No man is an island. Never was there a truer observation of man's condition. No one forms beliefs, ideas, emotions, opinions in isolation. The search of self improvement is no different. We can only find our inner self through others.

One only needs to look toward other great thinkers, visionaries and philosophers to see the truth about associating with like minded people. Great men and women including Aristotle, Manet, Shakespeare, Yeats, Virginia Wolf and Einstein formed their ideas and vision by expressing their ideas and hopes with others around them. Aristotle sort out Socrates; Edouard Manet came from a bourgeoisie Parisian family but had the courage to leave his comfortable assured future, to seek out fellow artists on the Left Bank; Shakespeare left wife and family in his native rural surroundings and traveled to London to seek his true destiny; Yeats formed Ireland's famous Abbey Theatre and gathered around him some of the 20th century's greatest writers; Virginia Woolf the great feminist, essayist and novelist was part of the famous Bloomsbury group; Einstein did not formulate his idea of relativity whilst working in a patent office or in some university, his theory was given birth by his after-work meetings with other 'dreamers' in Zurich's coffee houses.

Ideas and dreams die without being fed by discourse with your piers. It is the feedback you get from other like minded people that acts as a yardstick to your ideas and dreams. Sometimes your ideas may not always measure up but by listening to what those about you say you can begin to reformulate them into something stronger. Only the insane believe their ideas are worth anything when everyone else around them says different.

This brings us to the next point; you must associate with people with the same vision. It's no good bouncing your ideas off people who don't empathize with you. You must seek out those who will nurture your inner self. It can sometimes take tremendous courage to do this. You may have to forsake those from your past. You may think you have found people that can help you only to find out that this is not so. But what if you can't find these people? Let them find you. Advertise yourself. Let others know your inner self; don't hold back. Use whatever means you can to do this; write a blog on the internet, form a self help group and advertise meetings in your local newspaper; post notices in your local library. This does takes courage but what is the alternative? To remain unfulfilled?

Another thing to ensure is that you both give and take in these associations. Many people book themselves into a self development seminar and then sit and listen to someone else talk about improving one's life. This is fine. But remember, that these are just pep-talks; sitting down and listening is the first step but talking and expressing your own ideas is the next and most important step. It is only when you have discussed and had feedback can you really begin take action on your thoughts.

No one can expect to develop when they remain alone. Human beings need the company of those around them to develop fully. Our ideas, dreams and aspirations are born from within us and so, also require the company of other's. Take courage and bring them out. Of course there is always the chance of failure if you do this but one thing is certain; keeping them shut away will inevitably lead to failure. Bring your true, inner self out into the public arena; your real self will withstand the scrutiny and will almost certainly flourish when you associate with others of the same vision as yourself.

Self Improvement - It's Such An Adrenalin Rush

Self improvement can be one the most rewarding, exciting and pleasurable things one can do. When you embark on the road of self discovery, you wake up each morning full of expectation knowing that, before the day ends, you'll have learnt something new about yourself and the world around you.

Many people live their lives in a state of inertia; unable to conjure up any enthusiasm about any aspect of their life. They waste their life away, only able to endure the emptiness with meaningless and hollow diversions like drugs, alcohol, casual relationships, TV and gambling. But, for those of us who have embarked on a journey of self discovery life is full to the brim. The need for self improvement makes us eager to greet each day; knowing that before the day is out, we will discover something about our inner self, something that makes life a joy to live.

The more you learn about your inner self, the more you want to learn; it's almost like an addiction. As you unravel yourself and the world about you, you begin to understand and accept your place in it. Like athletes who get high on exercise, those on the road to self discovery get a rush with each step they take or each time they reach a point of realisation. It's a feeling only those on the same path can understand.

Of course, the journey of self improvement is not always an easy one. There are times when we experience set back after set back, when we seem to regress rather than progress. But this is only to be expected. All sports people experience feelings of failure and frustration, but they know in their hearts, that one day they'll achieve their goal; the same thinking is followed by those who want to improve themselves. By sticking with it, they know they'll achieve a goal and feel that sweet rush of contentment that comes from achievement.

Self improvement isn't a selfish thing to do either. As you grow in contentment, so too will those around you, just like a soccer player scoring a goal; not only does he feel the heady rush of joy, so do his team mates. Self improvement is a shared experience; there's plenty of it to go around. Passing on your self improvement tips to others, doesn't cost you anything and will only benefit those who take the time to listen and apply what you have learned. You'll also find that those around you will help you in return; self discovery is people discovery.

Self improvement is an adrenalin rush. The rush comes from achieving goals and dreams, be they large or small. It's the biggest rush there is. An athlete feels the rush of physical exercise or of being first past the post; a gambler feels the rush of winning a bet; lovers the rush of the first kiss. But these feelings of pleasure and satisfaction are one-dimensional. The rush felt through discovering and learning something fundamental about yourself or the world around you, encompasses so much more; the rush permeates your entire being, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Everything You Will Ever Need To Know About Self Improvement Seminars

Ever since the beginning of time, ambitious people of the world have attributed some "indescribable" secret to the success of those people with wealth. These people have spent, and will continue to spend, millions of dollars to cultivate these "secrets" within themselves.

Particularly since the early seventies, there has been a growing demand by the public to attend classes, workshops, and self-improvement seminars that will enable them to align their thinking as well as their actions, with those of people who have already achieve success.

The popularity of such best-selling how-to manuals as, 'Winning Is Believing', 'Think And Grow Rich', 'How to Develop A Winning Personality', 'Overcoming Shyness', 'Imagineering', 'New Life Options', 'Winning By Negotiation', 'Successful Visual-Verbal Communications', 'Conversationally Speaking' and countless others lends reinforcement to the to the "need" for self-improvement seminars.

You can promote and stage these seminars either as a generalist or as a specialist in a specific area of expertise -and attain wealth for yourself almost beyond your current imagination! The market potential has only barely been scratched, affording a real ground-floor opportunity for those with the gumption to take action.

Dale Carnegie - the author of the book, 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' - was certainly one of the first, if not "the first" self-improvement seminar marketer/teacher. Back in the Great Depression of the thirties, he recognized this need in people to improve themselves - he worked out a deal with the local management of his home town YMCA - got the word around that he was holding classes on self-improvement - and the rest is one of the truly classic unemployed-to-multi-million-dollar success stories of our time.

A self-improvement seminar is conducted much the same as a Toastmaster's Club meeting... It can be held just about anywhere, from the informal atmosphere of someone's living room to the formalities of the 'Hilton Convention Center'.

Basically, a self-improvement seminar is a gathering of people where one or more speakers talk on a specific subject. More often than not, only a certain aspect of self-improvement, such as 'How to Develop a Positive Mental Attitude' - is the thrust of the seminar. In other words, the more successful seminars deal with "specialized areas" of self-improvement.

These speakers usually wind up their talks with audience involvement question and answer sessions. Most of them "wind down" with the speaker circulating through the audience, plus lots of opportunity for the purchase of self-help books and tapes by the people wanting on-going motivation and reinforcement relative to what they've just heard. Always - sometimes even as the featured subject of the seminar - there's a great deal of motivation projected during these meetings. At the bottom line, motivation is more the purpose of these seminars than the attendees learning something they don't already know. The favourite words of most seminar speakers are usually, "It's the difference between having a dream and taking action - a matter of saying I can, believing it, and then doing it - because you can!"

The Essential Keys To Self Improvement And Motivation... Revealed!

What are the three keys to self improvement and motivation?

1. INSPIRATION.

Inspiration is critical to staying motivated and improving oneself. If you are not interested in your business, your motivation level will never be high and you will not be able to sustain interest for very long.

Take an honest look at your inspiration level. Are you excited about going to work or is it an obligation? You would be surprised at the number of people who choose a business that looks good on paper, but in reality does not interest them in the least.

These individuals will grow weary and uninterested pretty quickly because they have no inspiration or passion to sustain them during the difficult times they will encounter as a small business owner.

If you do not like your work, then think how you can re-focus your small business to better match your needs. Or consider making a change entirely. Without inspiration, there will not be motivated to even try self improvement.

2. SETTING GOALS.

Short and long-term goal setting is vital for any business owner. If you do not set goals, you would have no definite purpose on which path of self improvement to take.

How could you possibly be motivated if you were unsure about the direction of your company?

Take the time to put your goals in writing. A business plan may sound daunting, but it is really nothing more than goals, strategies, implementation and a budget. Write your own business plan and update it at least annually.

Include “mini-goals” that can be accomplished in a matter of hours, days or weeks as well as the more ambitious “grand-goals” that may take years to complete. Refer to this plan throughout the year.

But can a business plan really help motivate you? Of course. Written goals will make you feel more professional and certainly more connected to your business. It will also free you from having to reinvent your business goals every single day.

3. NETWORKING.

Another key factor in getting and staying motivated is networking with other small business owners. No one person knows all the knowledge.

However, when a number of people begin working together, the challenges will just be there waiting to be conquered.

In fact, the isolation of working alone is of one the most difficult parts of being an entrepreneur. You can never be on your way to self improvement without the help of others. Mutual support is motivating.

Make it easier on yourself by connecting with others either in your community or online. Even when businesses are not related, you will often find common ground and ways to work together.

Many successful entrepreneurs report that finding the right networking group was a turning point in the growth of the business. Working together, a networking group can help its members generate more qualified sales leads and solve problems faster and more efficiently.

Sharing ideas, expertise and experience is also an invaluable aspect of motivation and self improvement.

Your own personal team of business owners will help re-energize you when the burdens of running your own business seem too much.

With your networking team to rely on, you can accomplish more in less time and probably have more fun in the process. You will feel motivated to accomplish self improvement when you know you are not alone.

"Who's The Boss?" 10 Ways To Start Taking Control (time management, goal setting, record tracking)

At first glance, it would seem that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with one another. But many of us with ADD develop negative thinking patterns because we become frustrated by our challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward.

Practicing positive thinking allows people with ADD to focus on our strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation. This, in turn, allows us to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck. The following tips provide practical suggestions that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns:

1. Take Good Care of Yourself
It's much easier to be positive when you are eating well, exercising, and getting enough rest.

2. Remind Yourself of the Things You Are Grateful For
Stresses and challenges don't seem quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are right in life. Taking just 60 seconds a day to stop and appreciate the good things will make a huge difference.

3. Look for the Proof Instead of Making Assumptions
A fear of not being liked or accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking, but our fears are usually not reality. If you have a fear that a friend or family member's bad mood is due to something you did, or that your co-workers are secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ask them. Don't waste time worrying that you did something wrong unless you have proof that there is something to worry about.

4. Refrain from Using Absolutes
Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"? Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation seem worse than it is, and programs your brain into believing that certain people are incapable of delivering.

5. Detach From Negative Thoughts
Your thoughts can't hold any power over you if you don't judge them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, detach from it, witness it, and don't follow it.

6. Squash the "ANTs"
In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts. These are the bad thoughts that are usually reactionary, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and squash them!

7. Practice Lovin', Touchin' & Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family)
You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, is an instant pick-me-up. One research study on this subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she handed them their checks. She received higher tips from these customers than from the ones she didn't touch!

8. Increase Your Social Activity
By increasing social activity, you decrease loneliness. Surround yourself with healthy, happy people, and their positive energy will affect you in a positive way!

9. Volunteer for an Organization, or Help another Person
Everyone feels good after helping. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you put out into the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. Use Pattern Interrupts to Combat Rumination
If you find yourself ruminating, a great way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination is like hyper-focus on something negative. It's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it's just excessive worry. Try changing your physical environment - go for a walk or sit outside. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music.

When it comes to the corporate world, protocol is pretty much the religion. To know the things needed to do are the basics of productivity, but interaction and having a steady mind makes up the entire thing to true productivity. There are those who seem to work well even under pressure, but they're uncommon ones and we are human and imperfect. To get these little things like stress under our skins won't solve our problems. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to admit that we're turning to be workaholics than tell ourselves that we're not doing our best.
