Self Improvement and Self Growth

Nowadays the terms self-improvement, self-growth and self-help have become popular. We find many books about these subjects and many websites too. It seems that people are turning inside to find the solution to their problems. They seek knowledge, techniques, workshops, lectures and teachers who can show them the way. People begin to understand that self improvement and self growth improve the quality of life.

The subconscious mind is one of the major keys to self-improvement and self-growth. By changing the contents of the subconscious mind you change your habits, behavior and attitudes. This is brought about by thinking, meditation, visualization and affirmations.

The process of inner change requires inner work. It is not enough to read, you have to practice what you read, and this needs time and effort. There is no such thing as instant self improvement. Any inner change takes time, and there must be motivation, desire, ambition, perseverance and dedication. Outer and inner resistance and opposition must be taken into account too. Upon starting any self improvement program, most people usually encounter inner resistance that come from their old habits and their subconscious mind, and also resistance and opposition from the people around them.

The desire to change, build new habits and improve must be strong enough to resist any laziness, desire to give up and the ridicule or opposition from family, friends or colleagues.

Let me tell you something about myself. I have been drawn to self-improvement techniques from an early age, and have regarded them as a source for inner strength, happiness and a way to a better life. One of the most useful techniques that I have discovered was a simple, but very effective technique. It consisted of watching how people behaved and acted in various situations, and then looking inside myself, to find out if I behaved in the same way under the same conditions.

When I saw people with some traits of character, or a certain kind of behavior that I did not like, I examined myself to see if I possessed them too. If I did, I visualized and rehearsed in my mind a different sort of behavior. In my mind's eye I saw myself with the opposite traits of character. I visualized myself in situations, where I manifested the new behavior.

When I encountered traits of character or behavior, which I liked, I used to think about their advantages and benefits and their importance in my life. Here too, I used visualization and affirmations and endeavored to act in this way in daily life.

In this way I have learned and benefited a lot from the behavior and actions of the people around me, at work, at home, in the street and everywhere else, from people in real life, and from watching people on the screen. It was never for the purpose of judging them or taking advantage of them, but for learning how to act, react and behave in a better way. This process had another benefit. It increased the knowledge about how the mind and thoughts influence the behavior and actions of people.

How can you too take advantage of this technique for self improvement and growth?

1. Look around you and watch how people behave in various circumstances. Watch the people you meet at home, work, at the supermarket, on the bus, train and on the street. Watch and learn also from people interviewed on TV, and also from movies.

2. Watch how people talk, walk, and react, and how they are treated by others.

3. Pay attention to the way people use their voice and how they react to others' voices. Watch how you feel and act when people shout or speak softly. Watch what happens when people get angry, restless and upset and what happens if they are calm and relaxed.

4. If you do not like what you see, analyze what and why you do not like it, and then analyze your own behavior to find out whether you behave in the same way. Be honest and impartial in your analysis.

5. If you find that you possess some traits that you do not like, affirm to yourself frequently that every time this happens you are going to become conscious of this behavior, actions or reactions, and endeavor to avoid behaving in that way.

6. Play in your mind a mental scene of how you would like to behave. Repeat it several times a day, every day.

7. When you detect a sort of behavior or character traits you like and desire to possess, try to act in a similar way. Here too, visualize several times each day a scene, where you act and behave in that different way.

8. You can also decide to change some habit and behavior patterns and develop new ones, because you believe they are necessary and beneficial, even without seeing them in others first.

9. Think and visualize over and over again in your mind how you would like to act and behave. Constantly remind yourself of the changes you desire to make, and strive to act according to them. Each time that you find yourself acting according to your old habit, remember your decision to change and improve, and act accordingly.

10. Do not be disappointed or frustrated if you do not attain fast results. It does not matter how many times you fail or forget to behave as you desired. Persist in your efforts and never give up, and you will begin to see how you and your life improve.

There are many self improvement and self growth techniques, but the one described here is simple, effective and easily performed.

3 Self Improvement Ideas You Can Use

Self improvement has become very popular today. In addition, the idea of self improvement can cover all most every aspect of your life from career, to relationships, to raising children, to your finances, to health and fitness or anything else you want to improve upon in your life.

What holds them all together is that the concept of self improvement involves the process of becoming a better person. So what self improvement ideas can you use to make this happen?

A big obstacle that many people face is that they aren't sure what they want to improve, how to go about making the improvements, or just plain old finding the time to embark on any self improvement ideas. Most of us lead very hectic lives and we sometimes forget to focus on ourselves.

I'm not referring to focusing on yourself in a self-absorbed or selfish manner. For example, finding the time to eat healthy and exercise is not a selfish pursuit. If you don't take care of yourself, how will you take care of your family? How will you excel at work? It's important to take care of yourself not just for yourself but for your loved one's as well.

In order to make your self improvement journey an successful one, you need to think about what in your live you need to improve upon. Make a list, prioritize it and focus on one thing at a time. You'll overwhelm and frustrate yourself if you try and make too many major changes in your life at one time.

Let's use your career as an example. What about your job gives you difficulty or is an obstacle to leading a better life? Do you have ten new items on your to do list for every item you check off? Does it feel like the more work you do the more work you have left? Does this leave you rundown and tired?

Great! Not great that you feel this way but great that you've narrowed down what you can improve upon. This is something for which you have some control. You might want to take some time to put together a self improvement plan on managing and budgeting your time.

Set up a meeting and go over it with your boss. See if there are better ways to utilize your time at work. Are you spending too many wasted hours responding to "urgent" but not important emails? Develop a better system that frees you up from such a worthless endeavor.

If you're not happy in your job at all, stop complaining about it. Instead, sit down and put together a self improvement plan for how you can make your job better or more enjoyable. Or even consider putting together a job search program for another job. You only get one life. Don't spend it working 40 years at a job you hate.

Keep in mind this quote from Benjamin Disraeli, the former British Prime Minister, "Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action." Don't allow yourself to be miserable after day.

Do something about it. Put together some self improvement ideas and take action on those ideas. If they aren't working, put together another self improvement plan and take action on that. Keep refining and refocusing your plan and taking action. You'll become a much happier, more fulfilled person if you do.

Are You A Self Improvement Junkie?

Are you a self improvement junkie?

Do you do have more than 3 of the following self help addictions:

Are you on more than 3 self help newsletters?

Do you peruse the self help section of your local bookstore?

Do you know "The Secret"?

Are you a loyal follower of Dr. Phil? Dr. Laura? Any self-help guru with a

Dr. in front of their name?

How many self improvement books do you own?

How many audio self help programs do you own?

Do you buy the latest program or book but don't use it consistently for

at least 30 days?

I feel your pain. I've been there too. Okay, I'm STILL there.

Fortunately, I've been able to take my addiction and create a business

products and books sent to me on a regular basis to review and include

on my website or newsletter.

You may not be so lucky. But don't despair. I am here to tell you that

wanting to improve yourself is not a bad thing. In fact, man has been

searching for enlightenment since the early eastern philosophers like

Siddhartha and Confucius.

The person that is not looking to improve themselves likely has very

limiting beliefs and is not willing to change. They are the type of people

that would benefit most from self improvement. So don't look at your

quest for self improvement as a bad thing.

The key is to take action or apply the new knowledge you are learning

so you will actually see some self improvement. That is the key

difference between a self help junkie and a self help performer.

If you are looking to get started in any self improvement arena, start

small. Sometimes trying to devote a whole hour a day to meditation, or

brainwave entrainment can be too much to fit into your day.

Self Improvement and Success Under the Law of Attraction

We all tend to believe one way or another that, every thing that happens to us happens for a reason. From this basic point we then accept that one thing leads us on to another. We need therefore to lock up our past heartaches, embarrassments and failure. They need to be treated as teachers only and nothing else. They will become tools in self-improvement and building success. They have no other role in our future that we are setting out to build, using the principal of the law of attraction. They must be locked away as they will lead to self doubt, undermine our mind set and cause the struggle to get back to our normal belief system that we have been socially and environmentally programmed to accept.

Remember the film called "Patch Adams". It is a good film to review as it will help you to improve yourself. Patch fails his exams as a medical student and after months of melancholy, goes into depression and even considers suicide. In the end to seek medical attention he voluntarily admits himself in a psychiatric ward... His months in the ward meeting really sick and mental patients helps build back his resolve to help others and that he still wants to be a doctor.

With this he carries within himself a positive attitude any of us would be proud to emulate into our own lives. You see him in the film not only influence himself but others around him and the actual quality of life for all within the hospital area of influence. Needless to say he becomes the best doctor his country has ever known. So when does self improvement become synonymous with success? Take these tips;

1. Stop feeling and thinking as if you are a failure you are not if you have stayed reading this article to this point. Accept each new challenge, how can others accept you if you do not accept you.

2. When you see all those beautiful people on TV and in magazines, think more on self improvement, not self pitying. Self confidence is not about our visual image but on a belief of our inner beauty.

3. When you come across others who are feeling glum and down, help them to move up. Start with making them smile and keep your voice bright and happy, you'll be surprised how this can change others moods. Do not let them drag you down to their level. They can with their negativity pull you down further through joint self pity and you end up feeling inferior

4. The world that we live in is for learning, taking lessons in life skills. Don't feel stupid and doomed forever over a mistake. There is always the next time, just remember to learn from this mistake and learn to learn from others mistakes. Let the other person no you have learned from their mistake and help them fix the issue if possible. This is team and success building. Always make room for self improvement.

5. Take your steps forward one at a time. Do not expect to become a goody two shoes overnight. Success in self improvement is a one step at a time process, which will include some setbacks. It is a process that you will run at your own pace, not that of others.

6. Self confidence, self appreciation and self esteem are the building blocks of Self Improvement. The results are inner stability, personality development and most of all SUCCESS.

7. Set goals that are achievable and are meaningful to you. We are looking to improve and better you and no one else. Others can build off your success, as you can build of theirs but your goals must be for you and you alone. We are out to improve and better YOU.

8. Remember the little things in life, be polite, give appreciation in person not in writing or emails. It's all the other things your body says, that carry the message as you mean it to be heard ie your five senses.

9. Self improvement is an individual step that will only be achieved if your mental state is ready for the change. If its not then you will build blocks to your progress. Most of all it's a lonely journey that you cannot force even your best friend down if they are not mentally prepared for the belief system changes that the Law of Attraction can bring or even force upon us.

10. Last of all but most importantly, there is no such thing as overnight Success. It's always a wonderful feeling to hold onto all that you already have now. Realizing that those are just some of the things that you have previously wished/hoped for is a key to your right of passage to Self Improvement and Success.

11. Use all the aids that you can find from mind mapping through to audio programmes. It takes a lot to change enforced beliefs

Discover how to unleash the true power of your mind and achieve a level of success that you never though possible with OptiMindzation volume one and audio CD. Right now this CD is available on the web at http://www.optimindzation.com/breakthrough.php#01. It comes with a 365 day money back satisfaction refund policy so what have you got to risk.

I want to close on a nice quote "We are all here to learn our lessons. When we open the doors for self improvement, we increase our chances to head to the road of success."

Self-Improvement: Coax your Dreams into Reality with a Single Spark of Core Desire

Ever since we are a little kid in school and witnessed the world outside of our homes, our little minds are already working up plans. Indeed, even small children are capable of thinking up plans for their life. In their own childish worlds, they already have a burning desire to do something.

They may not yet fully grasp every plan and dream they wish to attain. Still, it boosts their self-image. Their self-esteem may also be elevated much with these dreams, giving them the courage to confront a school bully.

As the years go by, children become adolescents and then, adults. Every stage of their life is, like a little child, still full of plans and dreams. Others may have fulfilled theirs while others are still seeking of ways to achieve theirs.

Meanwhile, there are also people who seem to have their head full of desires and ambitions but remain just that. What do we make of these people? Are you one of them?

Do not lose heart or your self-image and self-esteem if ever you are one of those that cannot seem to find a way to strike the match and brighten their way into fulfilling their dreams. You might just be following the wrong dream. Or have not tapped the full wealth of your hidden potential.

Indeed, every one of us has quite an extensive hidden potential growing and developing throughout the years. Once we know of this, next thing we have to do is learn to identify and direct our hidden potential. You might discover that you are born to be a ballerina. Or that you are gifted with a talent of acting, singing or leading people. Your dream may also involve traveling the world and meeting famous and legendary personages.

However, without proper, prompt and persistent guidance and learning you cannot develop the power of motivating yourself strongly towards your dream. Motivation is the key to all self-improvement. Maybe we know exactly what we want, and the plans we have drawn for ourselves are realistic enough. Without that elemental force that drives us to strive and increase the light of our humbly lit, wish candles.

Persistence and proper action is the answer will unleash power of man to motivate him/her self. Everything we wanted out of life ever since we are little is achieved because of this powerful and vast motivation to oneself. Everything we wanted and failed to achieve are the result of the lack of proper motivation.

We may have improved, but our full-blown self-improvement is still wanting.

Do not be mistaken, though about this. If you seem lost in the silken web of dreams you spun, do not think you are not motivated. There is no person born without motivation. You just lack the proper learning and training on how to force out your specific desires, cultivate a powerful yearning, and drive to attain them. You might also lack self-esteem and your self-image is way down below.

Motivation is something we are born with. That spark in you can develop into a raging fire of determination. Just think, if other people would motivate you to achieve a certain dream, it would not have that lasting effect because other people are also touch-and-go in our lives. The motivation they can offer is limited.

Meanwhile, if you discover that faint spark in you and feed it continuously, it will spread out and consume all of you. Then and only then can you have the lasting power to get what you want out of life.

The faint spark is your core desires. They are your dreams, hopes and wishes, whipped into shape as you grow older and learn more. If we stunted our growth as a person and lost enough self-esteem, that faint spark may die and our desires may never develop into reality. If we continue feeding it by uplifting our level of awareness, self-improvement and self-image, then they are just there around the corner.

Knowing your core desires is both easy but quite complicated to do. Make a list of everything you really liked to do from the time you were a kid and until today. This list is yours alone. Do not muddle it up with what others are egging you on to or coaching you to answer. Be honest with yourself and the list you will draw up once finished will bring you full force motivation.

Take down everything you knew and learned that you really like to have. Avoid listing things that would be nice to have or do. Be brutally honest with yourself.

Do not make a mental list, write it down and you will see the difference. Once you have the list, then start figuring out ways and clear out the path into getting the core desires you want.

It will be a measure of your self-improvement once you never let go of your core desires. Your self-esteem and self-image will sustain your unwavering motivation. Let the fire of motivation keep burning in you!

Great Exercises for Self-Improvement

Self-improvement is a network of processes making it not an easy task. A lot of factors are involved and must be taken into consideration. Unfortunately, in some cases, the approach to self-improvement is not sustained when difficulties arise. Here comes in the need for certain exercises that are designed to lessen resistance and maintain the persistence of one's desire to be a better person.

One must remember that in any endeavour, processes are involved. There are basically two types of processes: positive processes and negative processes. Positive processes, as the name implies, are good as they bring out the best in a person. Negative processes work on the contrary. In any self-improvement effort, one must make sure that there only positive processes so as to avoid decline in interest and commitment.

Exercises designed to boost self-improvement are examples of positive processes. They make the concepts and direction of the whole process clear which, in effect, encourages a person to further move towards his goals. They give more truth to the fact that self-improvement is not just a concept but a reality that everyone has the capacity to achieve.

Doing self-improvement exercises may, at first, feel quite uncomfortable especially if they are completely distant from what one has been used to. It is then very important that one understands their purpose first so that he will not easily give them up when things seem to be going wrong.

Verbalizing daily affirmations is probably one of the most basic forms of exercises for self-improvement. The person may be asked to declare in front of a mirror everyday as soon as he gets up from bed that it is going to be another day of endless opportunities to improve the self. Such type of affirmation, although generally simple to do, somehow keeps one's commitment to self-improvement in place no matter what. This is so because it has been a studied phenomenon that when a person says something, he will do his best to live up to it. Otherwise, he will feel disturbed and uneasy. In other words, the person becomes more and more convinced that he can do something about the situation and feels bothered when he does not exert any effort to do so.

Encouraging practice is also a good exercise for self-improvement. For instance, a person is targeting to improve as a guitarist. Several exercises everyday focusing on certain keynotes or finishing an entire song will surely yield an improved performance.

Moreover, most psychologists and counsellors would advice their patients to list down whatever improvements or milestones they notice everyday. Such do not have to be very significant. Even minor successes can be listed down. In this way, the person does not overlook his own progress and see for himself that self-improvement is really possible. It just happens one step at a time. This is very important because discouragement comes easily and the list is a good way to concretely counter whatever doubts one has in his mind.

There are still many other possible exercises for self-improvement. These are just the basics but it can be noticed that the others are almost just variations of these. What is important is that the exercises should keep a person committed to his goals no matter what. They should keep him focused in spite of bugging distractions along the way.

Just What Is Self Improvement?

One term that is frequently mentioned nowadays is "self-improvement. " It is a broad term almost in the same sense as when one mentions that they are an Engineer. The term itself can cover quite a few things ranging from how to a goal that is to be attained as well as describing just the actual process itself. The concept of self-improvement can be applied to a specific area in one's life such as the physical, mental, spiritual or financial aspects or self-improvement can be thought of when it comes to achieving an overall encompassing result that is experienced by the person who wishes to attain it. In the book "Harmonic Wealth" by James Arthur Ray, an idea is presented concerning self-improvement in the overall sense. The book talks about achieving a balance in several areas that affect ones life in order to achieve an all encompassing state.

What is it that causes the desire to obtain self-improvement? Well the desire stems from a state of dissatisfaction with an aspect or factor that is having an affect on their lives and focusing on a desired end point to attain as a result of their self-improvement efforts. The end point is a state of satisfaction with having achieved a certain state of "being" in comparison to something that is pleasing to the individual as well as the comparison to the original point where the pursuit of self-improvement began. It is basically being at a point where one wants to be.

How does one go about deciding on how to pursue self-improvement? There are a variety of ways this can be done. One method is to consult a written source that is authored by someone whose opinion you respect or admire and embarking on a course of study. Another method would be to consult directly with someone you know who has already attained a state of "being" that you desire. It is of paramount importance that should a relationship be established with one from whom you are seeking guidance, elements of trust and confidence must be established before you are to proceed. This is due to the special circumstances involved that have a potential major impact on your life! Direct observation that takes place after mentally visualizing the result one desires can be used to track the progress that goes along with the efforts that are being put forth to attain the self-improvement.

What sets the standard that determines when a measure of self-improvement is attained? When it comes to the individual affected, that person is the one who decides when the result is achieved. In a relationship involving a student and teacher, it is the teacher who advises the student when the self-improvement has been reached. The final judgment however rests with the student because it is the student that must be accepting from within that actual self-improvement has been attained.

Once the desired self-improvement has been reached, what next? Does one just stop right then and there or should other areas of improvement be pursued? Where things start to get complex is when a state of dissatisfaction continues to exist. People must continue to appreciate themselves for who they are and use dissatisfaction as a motivational means to pursue additional self-improvement without negative thoughts getting in the way of how they feel about themselves.

In closing, when the desired factor of self-improvement has been attained, do not deny yourself the joy that you deserve following the satisfactory outcome of your efforts! Take time to get together with friends or loved ones and get their opinions on this topic. It will definitely make for stimulating conversation!

Self-Improvement: What Does It Mean and How to Get There?

If you are reading this article because you are motivated to self-improve, you have come to the right place. But first, do you know what you mean by "to improve yourself?"

It may well be that you yourself are not sure what you mean by Self-Improvement. Many who feel, deep down inside, that they want to improve themselves, are not sure what exactly they mean by it.

Does "Self-Improvement" mean:

* Becoming motivated to achieve more in life?

* Becoming more assertive?

* More open?

* Improving communication skills?

* Expanding dating capabilities?

* Becoming more tolerant?

* Increasing happiness?

* Making necessary changes?

* Becoming more spiritual?

* Learning to forgive?

* Increasing self-esteem?

* Developing positive thinking?

If you would have known what you mean by Self-Improvement, you would have gone directly to the path leading you to this specific improvement.

It may well be that you are not sure due to the fact that all these listed above - and many more - are related to one another; improving one can have a positive effect on the others - whether spiritually, emotionally, economically and psychologically.

Self-Awareness: the umbrella of self-improvement

Self-Awareness is the place where all the listed above mingle; it is the best available means to self-improvement: as you become aware of yourself, you're more likely to know what in you and your life you'd like to change and improve. The process of developing Self-Awareness is, by itself, a process of self-improvement.

As you become aware, you improve yourself

Apparently, if you feel the need and desire to self-improve it means that:

* "Something" in you tells you that you are not living your life to the fullest;

* It is likely that in one way or another you are shooting yourself in the foot;

* You know you can have a better life if only...- and here you're stuck: if only what?

This is what you might not know yet. And this is what developing Self-Awareness can help you realize.

When you develop awareness, get to know and understand yourself, you realize:

* The ways in which ways you have sabotaged your life;

* The factors which had power over you and drove you to harm your life;

* The steps you need to take in order to change.

The more self-aware you become, the more you get to know "who you really are" and in which ways you still want to self-improve.

Dr. Gil is the author of the recently-published "The Self-Awareness Guide to a Successful Intimate Relationship". It gives you insights on how to stop sabotaging yourself and how to improve your relationships in a conscious manner.

Doron Gil, Ph.D., is a university teacher, workshop leader, counselor and consultant, specialized in the interplay between Self-Awareness and Relationships. He has taught this subject to thousands of students and trained physicians, managers, school teachers and parents on how to develop Self-Awareness in order to expand their personal and professional skills.

The Noble Virtues - 9 Principles for Self-Improvement

In a world of overly marketed quick fixes, self-improvement audio series, books, seminars and miracle products galore, it's little wonder that the majority of those in search of real self-improvement become quickly overwhelmed amid the sheer volume of choices available to them. And yet, a practical, time-tested guide for self-improvement may be closer, less expensive and much more easy to apply than you may think.

As is often the case in our fast paced, modern society of thirty second sound bites and thirty millions dollar advertising campaigns, the proven, often perennial wisdom of our past is overshadowed and down trodden under the fanfare surrounding the next world-shattering self-improvement craze. However contrary to what advertisers and gurus alike will tell you about the paths and products they pitch, real self-improvement does not have to be cut, canned, critiqued and categorically commercialized to be truly effective. For generations and indeed for millennia, the essence of self-improvement was to be found within the Noble Virtues.

Self-improvement is the result of work you, the individual (not some other person, product or thing) put into or apply to yourself to increase your individual value. This may include but is certainly not limited to improving your health, character, communication skills, work ethic, coping mechanisms, memory or self awareness. The result of which can be an increase in self-perception, self-esteem, attitude and/or an overall feeling of accomplishment and personal satisfaction.

Within the Noble Virtues one will not find the often black and white, fly or die advise of profit-motivated professionals and fast talking fad consultants, but more of a tool for individual interpretation and application. And although this may at first seem a bit counter intuitive for someone in search of some solid advise or a definitive direction with which to begin their transformation, in the end, as with so many modifications we attempt to make in our individual lives, the information we learn, incorporate and make our own is much better served and more effective than the rules and recommendations we force upon ourselves that in the end, often result in frustration, disappointment or failure.

Allow me to give you a few examples of how you can incorporate the Noble Virtues into an action plan for self-improvement. First example. We all know what is required to loose excess body weight. Eat less food and get more exercise. Applying the virtues of Courage to take a stand for your health and really begin a weight loss plan coupled with Discipline, to cut out the snacks, reduce the serving sizes you eat and get out and walk briskly 4 times a week, you can empower the information you already have and successfully loose weight. Second example. If you would like to increase your work performance, you can put Industriousness to work in focusing on processes to make your work more efficient for your employer or yourself if you are self-employed, and Self-reliance to stop relying on other persons around you for solutions that you may be better equipped to create and share with coworkers. So as you can see, the applications of the Noble Virtues are only limited by your knowledge of them and what you choose to apply them too. And the more familiar you become with the virtues, the more quickly you will make gains in any area of self-improvement you choose to take on.

So without any further introduction, here are the Nine Noble Virtues for your review:

1 Honor - a feeling of inner value derived from a noble sense of character and the desire to show respect for that quality when found in another. Honor is the highest standard of behavior and the mark of integrity.

2 Truth - to be forthcoming and honest with others at all times despite retribution or reprisal; to say what one knows to be true and right. It is better to say nothing, if one cannot speak the truth.

3 Courage - the capacity to confront fear, pain, danger, intimidation and uncertainty in the face of failure, discouragement or death, and to do what must be done. Courage separates the worthy from the unwilling. Without courage, nothing great can be accomplished.

4 Fidelity - to be loyal to your source and true to your values without limitation. To express an unwavering devotion and a clear commitment to your duty, family, leader and god. Fidelity is the foundation of faith and the cornerstone of trust.

5 Discipline - the ability to be hard on oneself first, and then on others if need be, in order that a greater purpose may be achieved. An orderly pattern of self-control, discipline corrects, molds and perfects the body and the mind. There is no substitute for leading by example.

6 Hospitality - the willingness to share what one has with others and to graciously receive guests, visitors and strangers with kindness and goodwill. Hospitality strengthens the bonds of friendship and nurtures community.

7 Industriousness - the capacity to work hard towards your goals, characterized by a steadfast, energetic effort to be productive without waste. Efficiency is the life-blood of innovation. Hard work is the harbinger of success.

8 Self-reliance - the true spirit of independence, relying on one's own efforts and abilities to achieve what is good not only for the individual but also for the group. Trust in yourself, for god will not have his work done by cowards.

9 Perseverance - the ability to stay the course and pursue your dream with dogged conviction in spite of setback, opposition, discouragement or defeat. The hero will prevail despite failure; the road to success was not paved by the weak.

You can achieve continual self-improvement utilizing the Noble Virtues. You can set the course for your individual development with this resource in hand and put the "self," back into self-improvement without purchasing a shelf full of books or a closet full of products. Apply the Noble Virtues in your quest for personal development and you shall find the rewards of self-improvement rightfully yours.

Self Improvement Requires Faith and Persistence

About me, I receive many e-mails from people around the world wanting to make improvements both personally and professionally. And I'll admit, that self improvement does mean different things to different people, but the one thing many people can agree upon is the proactive desire in self improvement in specific aspects of your life.

Your question is identify various areas of your life that need improvement in, and to develop a smart goals map in getting there. Self improvement is a life-long process. As human beings, we are all marred by sin. Don't worry, this is not a sermon on the mount, or dissertation on theology 101 for you agnostics or anti God people.

But I do have enough experience approaching 11 years of helping private industry and private individuals in setting goals and from my experience, believe one of the many reasons people suffer through failures in their lives, is not having the trusting faith in God, and in their God given abilities in pursuing your life dreams.

Hope and Faith

Where is your hope and faith in life? As a Christian believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and savior, I believe completely in the power of prayer that only God Almighty is able to provide. Life is tough enough and a challenge on good days, and my hope and faith in God above is able to overcome any obstacle that the world brings my way, including areas of self improvement.

If you're struggling with self improvement in your own life, ask God in your prayers in helping you in these specific areas that you need help in overcoming. Ask Him how to meditate to Him, in helping you in yourself improvement pursuits in life. If everything else you've tried in self improvement has not worked, you have everything to gain including your eternal salvation, in trusting in God in helping you to overcome obstacles and challenges in your life.

God wants nothing but successful relationships with all God's children. If you want to know the secret in how to succeed in your life, put God first in your life...

Develop a Positive Attitude Mindset

You have heard the statement in health circles; "you are what you eat.", with respect to nutritional health for people trying to live more healthier lives. Well the same is even more true about your mental outlook on life. Just as it is true you are what you put into your mouth and your body regarding food intake, you are what you think, what you allow to penetrate your mind.

This is not an indictment on your positive attitude or lack thereof, only to challenge you into examining your attitude. Do you genuinely think of positive uplifting thoughts to influence your mind and your day, or do you lack the required positive thinking mindset needed for self improvement and accomplishing your life goals? Pray and ask God to help you in this area if your attitude needs adjustment.

Develop the Self Motivation and Self Discipline

Knowledge is Power, but unless you apply the knowledge, you are just wasting time and submitting to procrastination. Where is your self motivation and your self discipline which is required? Only by putting your faith into action, by harnessing the self discipline and having the self motivation in self improvement can you make improvements in these areas of your life.

Self Improvement Means Being Accountable to You

I can be your mentor and your life coach in pointing you in the right direction, providing you a road map for your career goals, your business goals pursuits, or even your entrepreneurship aspirations in your life, but eventually, you need to sit be hind the wheel and drive the car yourself.

Develop a plan of what you need to do improve upon now. Don't allow your fear of failure or uncertainty keep you on the sidelines of life. You are both your greatest ally and arch nemesis, but it is only you who decides which one will rule. Your life is waiting...

Self Improvement And Self Help

Self improvement is the enrichment of the mind, character, and attitude through your own efforts and positive thinking. There is no wrong or right in this field, what is self improvement to one person may actually appear as self decline to another.

When applied properly and consistently these thought processes can transform your whole life. Most of us suffer from low self esteem and a lack self confidence from time to time. Eventually we believe that self improvement is impossible to achieve.

These thoughts have been shaped by past failures and negative experiences.

Hopefully we can reach a point in our life when we are ready for change and are ready to accept information that will help us unlock our self improvement power. For many people, financial success is an important part of this process.

We begin to understand that self improvement and self growth improve the quality of life. There is no such thing as an instant fix. Upon starting any self improvement program, most people usually encounter inner resistance that come from their old habits and their subconscious mind, and also resistance and opposition from the people around them.

Self-improvement begins with self-understanding , knowing your true potential and of being aware that you are unique. Improvement can be measured in many ways, in a variety of contexts. What really does matter is how the individual sees his or her self, and what they would perceive as improvement to that self.

The popularity of self-improvement books, tapes and seminars is a reflection of the universal interest we all have in overcoming our limitations, or being the best we can be. The reason why you see so much literature on self improvement whenever you go to a bookstore is that people have forgotten the basic fact that what they are seeking is already within them, and that they already have the means within them to achieve their goals.

In pursuit of an objective, a goal, or even a dream, whether business or personal, you can increase the likelihood of success by continuously exercising your mind with positive thinking, self help and personal growth.

Self Improvement - It's Such an Adrenalin Rush

Self improvement can be one the most rewarding, exciting and pleasurable things one can do. When you embark on the road of self discovery, you wake up each morning full of expectation knowing that, before the day ends, you'll have learnt something new about yourself and the world around you.

Many people live their lives in a state of inertia; unable to conjure up any enthusiasm about any aspect of their life. They waste their life away, only able to endure the emptiness with meaningless and hollow diversions like drugs, alcohol, casual relationships, TV and gambling. But, for those of us who have embarked on a journey of self discovery life is full to the brim. The need for self improvement makes us eager to greet each day; knowing that before the day is out, we will discover something about our inner self, something that makes life a joy to live.

The more you learn about your inner self, the more you want to learn; it's almost like an addiction. As you unravel yourself and the world about you, you begin to understand and accept your place in it. Like athletes who get high on exercise, those on the road to self discovery get a rush with each step they take or each time they reach a point of realisation. It's a feeling only those on the same path can understand.

Of course, the journey of self improvement is not always an easy one. There are times when we experience set back after set back, when we seem to regress rather than progress. But this is only to be expected. All sports people experience feelings of failure and frustration, but they know in their hearts, that one day they'll achieve their goal; the same thinking is followed by those who want to improve themselves. By sticking with it, they know they'll achieve a goal and feel that sweet rush of contentment that comes from achievement.

Self improvement isn't a selfish thing to do either. As you grow in contentment, so too will those around you, just like a soccer player scoring a goal; not only does he feel the heady rush of joy, so do his team mates. Self improvement is a shared experience; there's plenty of it to go around. Passing on your self improvement tips to others, doesn't cost you anything and will only benefit those who take the time to listen and apply what you have learned. You'll also find that those around you will help you in return; self discovery is people discovery.

Self improvement is an adrenalin rush. The rush comes from achieving goals and dreams, be they large or small. It's the biggest rush there is. An athlete feels the rush of physical exercise or of being first past the post; a gambler feels the rush of winning a bet; lovers the rush of the first kiss. But these feelings of pleasure and satisfaction are one-dimensional. The rush felt through discovering and learning something fundamental about yourself or the world around you, encompasses so much more; the rush permeates your entire being, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Simple Tips On Getting The Most From Self Improvement Books

Self improvement and personal growth have been part of my staple diet for well over 15 years. Reading, watching, listening, discussing, researching you name I've been doing it in the quest to become a better more improved me.

I'm always on the lookout for the next book, DVD, or course that could increase my capacity to grow, develop and achieve more in my life.

A lot of the stuff I read and watch generally talk about the same kind of things, but there's always some aspects that you can put your own perspective on and then implement in your life.

The famous quote by Sir Francis Bacon "knowledge is power" is something I'm a great advocate of. Armed with right knowledge and when used correctly I believe turns you into an incredibly powerful force that enables you to achieve anything and everything you want.

So with that in mind I'll start by asking you this:

Is there a bookstore near you?

Have you visited it? If you have then you probably noticed that it has a whole shelf (if not shelves) stacked with self improvement books.

This should not come as a surprise since demand for personal development books are growing. It is not uncommon to see a personal development book title or two in reputable bestseller lists such as the one regularly posted by the New York Times.

If you are looking for self improvement books to read, finding the ones you need or simply the ones that are appropriate for you can be rather frustrating. There are just too many books out there. You are being offered too many choices that making a decision can bring out your migraine problems. To help you out in finding the perfect self improvement book for you as well as guide you in getting the most out of them, keep in mind the following advice.

I) What exactly are your concerns or problems that you need self improvement books for?

Why are you looking for a self improvement book in the first place? Do you want it to help you improve your overall health? Do you want to learn how to effectively manage your money and assets? Are you looking for more wealth? Do you wish to build your self esteem and confidence. Some books out there cover all of these in one binding but it is best that you choose one that specifically focuses on a niche.

II) Do your research and take time to read reviews of the self improvement books you're planning to purchase.

Here is one thing that you need to keep in mind: just because a book is often seen on bestseller lists doesn't mean it's a good book. Don't buy a book just because it's number 1 or number 2 on the New York Times bestseller list for self improvement books. What you need to do is read as many reviews as you can on the book. If you get to read reviews that are mostly positive, then the book is probably one that you need. If the reviews are saying negative things about it, then it's probably best that you forget about purchasing it.

III) Read the best self improvement books.

To help you get started, here is a list of some of the best self improvement books out there:

1) The Secret - Rhonda Byrne: There's a reason why this book just exploded and become one of the most talked about book on the law of attraction.

2) The Power of Now - Eckhart Tolle: This book teaches you how to live in "the now" and how to calm your being through meditating.

3) The 4-Hour Workweek - Tim Ferris: This book opens your eyes to the power of the internet and how you can use it to free up your time in order to live a lifestyle you want.

4) The Millionaire Mindset - Gerry Robert: This book will teach you how to create that abundance mindset that will enable you to improve your wealth.

Your life and your future is in your hands. Take control of it now and follow the above tips to get the most out of the value of self improvement books.

Self Improvement and Self Help - The 3-Step Process

The self improvement and self help process involves steps that will not likely be achieved without the accomplishment of their preceding steps. As humans, we find it very difficult to adjust to changes at once, because we have already been programmed to do and see things a particular way. It does not mean that it is impossible. It simply entails that completing the final stage of the self improvement process requires discipline, patience and persistence.

Rome was not built in a day, as the popular proverb goes. Thus, if we want to reap the benefits and enjoy what our self-improvement and personal development changes can bring, we must learn to be patient. The process of self improvement does not and will not happen overnight. Remember that personal and professional changes take some time to get used to and some degree of adjustment on our part; so we should never seek to push ourselves to adapt immediately, or these efforts will just end up in vain.

Self improvement does not happen with simply thinking that we want to improve. We have to act on this 'want' and transform it into a 'need'. Saying that we want to improve is just the beginning of this challenging process.

The basic self improvement process consists of three simple steps:

1) Deciding that you really want to improve,

2) Acting on it, and

3) Maintaining the goal in mind.

To truly get ahead in life, we have to accept that sacrifices will have to be made. For example, if we choose to join a Stop Drinking support group, we have to exercise maximum discipline to stay away from the 'enemy'. We should make every effort to avoid situations that put us in a position where choice becomes very difficult and just stay focus by repeating the benefits of the endeavour to ourselves.

We must have a good follow through for the personal development process to really work, If we only act on it and then change our minds, or fail to stick with it, it would be like we never started to achieve anything, at all. Keeping both our eyes on the goal at all times is key. Self improvement does not stop when something is accomplished, because it is a continuous process.

Who ever said getting ahead in life was easy? Your journey will surely be difficulty, not just based on external factors, but also from yourself. If you truly want to better your life, you must realize that your worst enemy will be yourself - which is, ironically, the most difficult part to conquer. However, if you set your heart and soul into your goal and convince yourself that though the path is rocky there is a great reward waiting for you at the finish line, you will be able to survive and excel.

Life is a challenge. Conquering your inner fears and apprehensions will make your journey much more challenging. However, it will not be so if you know that you can do it. The process of self improvement and person development is challenging, but very rewarding once you surpass the obstacles. You just have to keep a positive and open mind all the time.

The Easy Self Improvement Tip You Will Not Read About

We often read and hear about how to become a better person, how to be successful, how to be the best you can be, and similar kinds of aspirations. Of course any ideas no matter how generic or regurgitated, can be very important indeed. Repetitious messages are of value and evidenced regularly as they get delivered across the self help industry on a regular basis by all and sundry.

Easy self improvement tips might be outlined by some as being somewhat of an oxymoron as self improvement is complex for many individuals at the best of times. Since it can be looked upon as being no more than a generic term, what correctly is self improvement anyway?

Self improvement is based upon a personal determination that generates from within the person. It is not done away from or beyond the person as it is an introspective voyage or assessment of where the individual is at in their life, and where they want to be moving towards in the future. As is often the case in many individuals, even considering the inner world and what it means and where to begin is a challenging prospect.

Success and performance in the modern world particularly, are measured by key performance indicators and outcomes that have little time or interest for the self. It is plain to see that in today's fast paced demanding world, that performance is measured and concerned with demonstrated or proven outcomes. Using this criteria then, how exactly does an area like self improvement get measured? Society very clearly has not delineated, defined or valued self improvement nearly enough as evidenced in the questions that arise from trying to define it!

And this is precisely the point that is being presented here. Self improvement requires courage and it takes inner power. It means doing things and being things that on so many levels do not get acknowledged or accepted. That is not to say some things do not get acknowledged as visibly both you and others will see the results. All that being said, seeing or experiencing something and then being able to measure or properly understand it, is another thing entirely!

So the mindset necessary for getting self improvement tips into action is one that is focused primarily on personal recognition of results. Get this process correct and the outcomes will follow. It needs to be remembered that this process is tagged 'self' improvement.

The foundations need to be solid to ensure future success. Actual self improvement is a job done from the inside out. You need to recognize where you are going and how you are going to get there. Focus on your intention, your motivation, your goals and your aspirations. Ensure that whatever it is you are hoping to improve has a firm foundation to work from.

Right about now the question may well be asked as to the whereabouts of the self improvement tips alluded to earlier in the article. If you began reading this article hoping for a tangible number of easy self improvement tips and a to do list, then I would encourage you to read the article again. Reading between the lines in life is the goal. Focusing on the process or the journey of life, and not just the outcome, is the self improvement tip and the intention of this article.

7 Hot Tips for Self Improvement Part 1

Have you ever imagined that life could be a lot better and more fulfilling than yours is right now? Are you eager to learn a self improvement technique that will make it so?

If you are read on.

I am going to lay down 7 simple steps for your self improvement plan. Whether you implement the self improvement steps I give you is your decision alone.

Self Improvement Tip 1

This tip will seem quite obvious and simple to you, but you'll be amazed how few actually take the effort to do it.

Unless you're not a morning person this self improvement tip will drastically change the quality of your day towards the positive.

Setting you in a good mood to face the days challenges and adversities.

Get Up Early!

This may sound more like a way to ruin your day by putting you in an awful mood, but bear with me on this.

To be able to accomplish this and still avoid losing any any precious sleep. You can go to bed just a half hour earlier since to start with you only need to get up a half hour earlier than you usually do.

To aid this purpose you should definitely use an alarm clock with persistent beeping.

You may be wondering by now just what it is that you're supposed to do in this extra half hour when you would normally be dozing peacefully in bed and how this has anything to do with self improvement.

For different people the answer can vary slightly. To start with you need to fully awaken yourself and get rid of early morning sluggishness.

To suit this purpose you can take a cold or slightly cool shower. Or you might try doing stretches combined with deep breathing.

You might skip the shower if just splashing cold water on your face is sufficient to wake you. Use whatever works for you.

After you're completely alert step outside of your house, apartment, etc... And if it's early enough and you have a clear view, watch the sunrise.

This simple but immensely satisfying act will lift your spirits and help with self improvement. If you're unable to do this, take a brisk walk, jog or run depending upon what you prefer and what you're physically capable of.

When you've been out for 20 minutes you can head inside and commence with whatever morning ritual you normally have.

Self Improvement Tip 2

Now this is extremely important but deceitfully obvious. Eat Breakfast.

To start your day out on the right foot and stay in keeping with your self improvement plan this is practically a necessity. You need the energy this will provide you with to accomplish your daily tasks.

If you are overly pressed for time you might try cereal and milk or a few granola bars, even a few pieces of fresh fruit would do.

Any of these are better alternatives than skipping breakfast.

This is also a good suggestion for those watching their weight, because if you skip breakfast you're more likely to binge later in the day. And you certainly won't be helping your self improvement by gaining

unwanted weight.

Self Improvement Tip 3

When you go places, even if you find it a bit difficult at first, smile more at other people. Just curve your lips up a bit as you make eye contact with another human being.

It's really that simple. This will not only lift your spirits as you see a good many people smile back, but it will lift other people's as well. Even the ones who are too shy to smile back.

Be sure to read Part 2 of this article which contains the last 4 tips on self improvement.

Self-Improvement - Something For Everyone (Part 1)

Self-improvement is something that every person in the world yearns for. It has nothing to do with where you live, your age, occupation or your income. Yes, it is true that many people spend a small fortune each year on trying to improve themselves by hiring life coaches and personal trainers. However, there are many ways you can indulge in self-improvement without going to any extra expense.

Let's take for example, the woman who finds herself gaining a little too much weight. For her, self-improvement is shedding the extra pounds and fitting back into her clothes. She can start by cutting back on the high-calorie food she eats and incorporate a walk into her daily activities. If she doesn't want to spend extra money, then she doesn't have to join a fitness club or a program to help her lose weight, but the option is there if she wants to take it. This applies to anyone that wants to take some action directed toward improving some aspect of his/her life.

Self-improvement can involve anything that you feel will make you feel better about your life. It could be taking a course that would lead to a hobby, if you feel bored during your leisure time. Even taking a trip to a faraway place can be a method of self-improvement because it gives you a chance to see another part of the world, learn about another culture and get some rest and relaxation at the same time.

Self-improvement is such a broad topic that it would take pages to write about all the ways you can learn from it. No matter what form of improvement you choose for your life, it will help to increase your self-image and your confidence. Just knowing that you look good with the weight you've lost adds something to the way you walk. Having someone compliment you on something that you have made or built as a result of a new hobby will fill you with pride. So how do you get to figure how what it is about your life that needs improving?
