Self Improvement Starts With a Positive Body Image

As a society, we are constantly bombarded with images depicting perfect bodies. The advent of plastic surgery techniques, and various treatments and injections, have created a society of people who have pinched, tucked, and injected their way into becoming the stereotypical perfect 10. If you are in constant pursuit of physical self-improvement, it is easy to forget positive aspects of your body. This leads to destructive mental and physical behavior. Stop negative thinking, in relationship to body image, and start developing positive thoughts and actions.

A positive body image revolves around the acceptance of all good and bad things about your body. This means looking at your body and making the choice to find something positive. When you are completing this simple self-improvement exercise, think about all the things your body can do. This can include anything from your body's ability to take a short walk or the ability to play with your children. In addition, reflect on good health. If you are a person who goes to the doctor a handful of times per year recognize this gift. Certainly, a person with a serious illness would gladly trade, your perceived imperfections, for a healthy body.

If you are overweight, choose not to obsess about the current state of your body. We tend to obsess unnecessarily, feeding into anything and everything, in relationship to weight loss. Pack away or give away items related to weight loss that are not in use and have accumulated over the years. This includes self-improvement books or self-improvement tapes on weight loss. Items collecting dust only increase our feelings of failure. Instead, channel the same energy into finding another worthwhile cause. Take a class in a topic of interest, volunteer, or pick up a book you want to read. All are worthwhile and healthy activities.

Self-improvement advice when working on a positive body image includes looking at regular people. When you are in a large crowd look around. When you look around the crowd how many people have a perfect body? When answering this question, you are likely to say none. Everyone has unique features and flaws that make them wonderfully different. The world would be a boring and uniform place if we all had perfect bodies. Remember to celebrate your individual body type.

Wear clothing that increases your self-esteem. Wear clothes that are comfortable and look nice. Wearing the correct cut will improve your self-esteem. Get rid of tight clothing or pieces that have an unflattering fit, and give them to any number of charitable organizations. If you do not own any clothing that fits correctly, purchase inexpensive items and have them altered.

Last, eat food which makes you feel good. Eat at least 6 to 7 fruits or vegetables per day and watch your intake of caffeine and sugar. Such foods make you feel sluggish and tired. If you are sluggish and tired, it is less likely you will feel physically motivated. This is not working toward the positive goal of increasing your sense of self-improvement. Moving around, doing any physical activity, or taking the time to exercise will help you to feel better.

Self Improvement Resources

If you are interested in improving yourself, various self improvement resources are available to help you become renewed and improved. Since the resources are quite varied and huge in number, it may become difficult in which one to choose. However, you only have to ask yourself a basic and simple question, that is, what you want to improve in yourself.

Some of the most common resources for improving one's self are found online through articles and discussion about self improvement. You simply have to look in free article directories that contain the authors, publishers, and published works on self improvement. These directories have categories for self improvement that can surely help you since you do not only get to learn from one or two authors.

On the other hand, if reading bores you, you can simply listen on self improvement talks or discussions on the Internet. Various websites are available that serve as valuable resources for self improvement. You can learn from the discussions and be able to apply the most suitable learning for you.

Consequently, if you do not want to go online, many self improvement resources are available right in your finger tips. In fact, you do not have to go very far just to find them. You only have to decide on which company to keep. This means that you have to be with people that can be beneficial for your self improvement. Although you cannot choose your family or pick your co-workers, you can decide on who you want to spend with especially during your off-hours; look for people who are successful in employing the principles you want to achieve; search for mentors who can guide, influence, or teach you on the path you want to take; and search for healthy relationships that will lead you forward to your goals instead of pulling you down.

Self-Improvement E-books - Why Everyone Who Wants to Succeed Must Read Them

These days, you can find information on practically everything online! Even tips on self-improvement are no exception. In fact, there are probably thousands of self-improvement e-books online waiting to be read on the Internet. If I were you, I would take advantage of this opportunity and download as many of these e-books as I can.

Self-help e-books can lead you to a whole new perspective about the world and about yourself. If you're not a fan of reading, then this is the time to get into the habit. Here are some of the reasons why reading self-improvement e-books is so important.

Reason # 1: Reading is an essential tool to success.

Nobody will tell you how to improve yourself. Nobody will personally teach you how you can improve your outlook on life. The only way you can learn is by reading about these things yourself. And if you don't have time to read at home, at least find time to skim through self-improvement e-books in the office (during break time of course).

While checking your emails, for example, you can also spend a few minutes reading the finer points of your recently downloaded e-book. Of course, it takes more than just a good reason for you to realize the importance of reading. Hence, the next reason.

Reason # 2: Reading paves the way for more opportunities for growth.

A lot of self-improvement e-books online also talk about possible skill development. These skills may not seem important to you, but that's because you haven't had the chance to apply them on real situations yet. Take a self-help e-book on reading a person's body language for example. Arthur, a 27-year old account executive who once disliked reading, recently tried to read through a self-improvement e-book on that particular topic.

Of course, at that time, his only motivation was that the e-book seemed to have lesser pages than an actual book. By the time he was done, he realized just how fun it was to discover things that were previously unknown to him. He used his newly acquired skills at work and managed to close more deals that month than any other month in the past. Suffice to say, he was promoted in no time.

Self-improvement e-books are only as effective as the person who reads them. You might not think anything of these e-books at first, but wait until you've had the chance to try it out for yourself. Don't let go of any opportunity that might lead to more growth. Life is not stagnant and you shouldn't be either.

Awesome news! You can now get FREE instant access to some of the best self-improvement eBooks worth over $2,355.00! Download them free at http://www.20daypersuasion.com/goldaccess.htm.

Self-Improvement DVDs - Different DVDs For Different Purposes

"Nobody is perfect" is an often-repeated phrase. For every human being, there will always be room for improvement on some aspects. Also, there are people who may have unhealthy habits like chain smocking, or people who may not have good communication skills and personality, or people who may feel depressed and pessimistic about life. For a person who wants to improve upon life in general, self-improvement DVDs are a great help.

Self-improvement books were very popular in the olden days. The books provide tips on how to improve the general outlook of life. So, when personal computer and DVD players became popular as a result of the digital revolution, the content of the self-improvement books graduated into self-improvement DVDs. A major difference between the books and DVDs is that DVDs provide an audio-visual environment.

Self-improvement DVDs come in several categories: from learning how to speak English in different accents to how to get rid of fear of flying syndrome. It is up to the individuals to select what aspect of improvement he or she desires. Also, there are DVDs that provide a psycho-visual experience. It is related to mind power enhancing techniques. These DVDs are not intended for any particular area of improvement. It provides specially designed audiovisual environment. One needs only to watch it in a relaxing mood. The repeated watching is said to enhance the concentration level and thinking capacity of people. It is particularly useful for people who are depressed after a business failure or some other tragedy. As it involves only one-time payment, it is very cost effective also. There is no need to take any medicine. So, one should not fear about any side effects also.

Then there are self-improvement DVDs for specific purposes. For example, DVDs providing tips and demonstrations for weight loss are very popular. It shows a program that guides you to follow a systematic approach to dieting and exercises. Unlike books, DVDs can show you how to prepare a particular kind of dish or how to do a certain kind of exercise. Some of such DVDs are organized very systematically with special programs on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. That is, the program provides action plan for the first day, second day, and so on. One only needs to act as instructed by the program.

One can also get self-improvement DVDs for improving the communication skills and personality. The programs in these DVDs generally advise on how to improve the interpersonal talking skills and public speaking skills. The programs also suggest ways to improve the body language of the person. DVDs for quitting smocking are also available. It provides practical tips on how to resist the urge to smoke. The DVDs also contain hypnotic therapy for overcoming the habit of smocking.

Is Life Easier For Self-Improvement Aficionados? Is it Worth the Time and Money?

Let's put it this way, life will never be as great as your favorite guru would like you to believe but, if you put enough work on improving yourself, you will see a major change. That's not saying that you no longer will face challenges. Everyone does. Even Tony Robbins had to face bankruptcy at one point.

Self-improvement will give you more tools and more resources. It will provide options that you never had before. It will give you insight on the working of the mind; it will give you hope when you need it and support when the going gets rough.

There is one thing that self-improvement will never do for you and that's taking action for you. That is the major problem of those who get into self-improvement and fail. I have been very active in the self-improvement world and I have seen people spending ninety percent of their time learning new material or reading inspirational books while only spending ten percent of their time applying what they have learned. Not a good ratio at all.

Reading motivational material, attending seminars and going to great rallies can become a drug of choice. People who spend inordinate amount of time fiddling with self-help material while never taking action actually have the feeling that they are constantly improving when the reality is that they are simply chasing their own tail.

Self-improvement should be seen like any sport. First the rudiments of the discipline has to be learned followed by constant practice and occasional training lessons to learn new techniques and correct any faulty habits that may have been acquired along the way.

And, like in our sport analogy, the emphasis in self-improvement should be on the "practicing" part. Learning without doing is moot. Reading ten books on goal setting and achieving is completely worthless if the student does not set goals and strive to achieve those goals.

Back to the question, "Is Life Easier for Self-improvement Aficionados?" The answer is a non-equivocal YES. That is if there is equilibrium between the learning and the doing. The problem is that the "doing" or "taking action" part is a lot harder than the learning section.

A person could spend ten years reading about swimming but if that person does not get in the water and actually swim, chances are that falling off a boat would result in drowning. It is the same with self-improvement. The actual practice must follow the theory learning part or no change will come out of it.

Whatever we may have achieved so far, either good, bad or in between, is the result of small distinctions and small decisions that we have taken along the way. The better equipped and the more references that we had to assist us in making those distinctions/decisions, the more effective our choices were.

That's where self-improvement techniques and theories can truly assist us. Those techniques and theories are the ones that were used by successful people who came before us. They are like a map that leads to success and the good life. So, when time comes to make those decisions, they are not done randomly. They follow a road that has been traveled before and known to work.

Suppose for a minute that you decided to do a parachute jump. What is the first thing that you would do? Chances are that you would try to gather as much information about parachute jumping as you could.

Well, it's the same thing in life. We don't get a second chance. We have to get it right on the first try. So, if I could give you the best possible advice that I can think off, it would be, "Take your self-improvement work seriously." You're already well into life's parachute jump and you certainly want to get it right before you hit the ground.

Making Personal Self Improvements - Simple Ways to Improve Your Self

If you're frustrated with yourself and your life, there are ways to combat personal frustrations, self-esteem and your general over-all attitude. The first thing when making personal self improvements is to remember that attitude is everything. If your attitude is negative, if you're angry or sad all of the time, your life and relationships will be filled with negativity.

Sometimes changing your attitude and yourself is as simple as giving yourself a "pep talk" and telling yourself "I'm better than this negativity, I want light and love in my life, I refuse to give in to the negative." Believe it or not, self-affirmation works. Self-affirming messages, words, thoughts and journalling will go a long way toward improving your attitude- and your very life!- this is one of the most powerful tools for making personal self improvements, and it really works.

Don't allow yourself to have more than ONE negative experience with yourself a week. Allow yourself ONE day a week, for a few hours, to "rant" and let all the negativity out. Sometimes it can be as simple as journalling out what bothers you, screaming into a pillow, venting to a friend who understands, or even just sleeping a few extra hours. But the key is, make sure you don't allow your "negative time" to continue for more than a few hours, otherwise you'll just end up starting another CYCLE of negativity and possibly even throw yourself into a deep depression.

Another good key to making personal self improvements is to view yourself and your body as a "home" (or temple) to be maintained and properly cared for. Don't make bad food choices, make sure you eat a healthy, well-balanced diet. Exercise to maintain your energy levels- exercise is also a good way to boost your self-esteem, as it can really help you to view yourself in a more positive light- you're doing something for you!

If you can't shake the feelings of negativity, enlist the help of a good counselor or therapist, and even discuss your feelings with your doctor. Your doctor may or may not recommend that you get on a medication, but he or she can definitely give you some more tips on how to shake the negativity and to make sure you're on the right track with your personal self improvements.

Anything you do for yourself or to rid yourself and your life of negativity is going to take time, and it won't be easy- but it can be done. Once you take the first step and get started on the process of living a healthier, positive life- you've overcome the first obstacle already, and you're already on your way to success and happiness.

Don't allow yourself to be dragged into anyone else's "drama," it's okay to be a little selfish sometimes. Sometimes being a bit selfish can save our sanity- our very lives. Take the first step, and one step at a time, rid yourself and your life of the vicious cycle of negativity.

Learn Self Hypnosis With a Self Improvement CD

Does self hypnosis sound too complicated for you? It's not, with the help of a self improvement CD. Although there are CDs out that are specifically labeled to teach you self hypnosis, most self help CDs utilize the same exact principles of self hypnosis. But why would you use self hypnosis in order to help yourself break a bad habit, do better at work or for one of the many reasons you need some improvement in your life?

Self hypnosis is natural, easy to use and doesn't give your body any bad side effects like drugs can. You don't need a prescription, either.

Misconceptions About Self Hypnosis

Despite what you may have seen on television, you can't get any lasting harmful effects from using self hypnosis or a self improvement CD. You won't suddenly go into a hypnotic trance without warning. It won't turn you into a mindless zombie. This is because no hypnotist is powerful enough to make you do anything you don't want to do - even if the hypnotist is yourself.

How It Works

Self improvement CDs are easy to use. You need to listen to them at a time when you know you won't be disturbed. It's a good idea to turn off the phone so you can have enough time to really relax. You also should stay in a comfortable sitting position, but some people prefer lying down. You do risk the danger of falling asleep if you lay down, though.

You just follow the instructions on the CD to help get you into a hypnotic trance, which is just like before you fall asleep. This is when the subconscious is most open to suggestion. You then give it a simple, one-sentence instruction to remember. For example, if you are scared of spiders, you would say, "Spiders are my friends." Your CD may have such instructions, called hypnotic suggestions, already prerecorded. But you are free to come up with hypnotic suggestions of your own.

Who Can Benefit

Most people can benefit from slef improvement CDs that help them plant helpful hypnotic suggestions into their subconscious. But, please don't use this article in the place of your doctor or therapist's diagnosis. Some conditions may not be helped by self hypnosis.

But many people have been helped through the use of self hypnosis recordings. These are people looking to overcome phobias, help them deal with stress related illnesses like psoriasis or hyperhydrosis or to help them loose weight. Many people like the chance to be able to help themselves rather than completely rely on someone else to take care of them. Self hypnosis is not a cure all or a magic bullet for your problems, but it can help you help yourself.

Building Your Self Esteem Will Lead to Self Improvement

The Master Blueprint Article

Building Your Self Esteem Will Lead to Self Improvement

All around you may, at one point or another, try to destroy your self esteem pulling you down in many ways - some memorable, others not. You must not let them destroy you, damage your self esteem or even get the better of you.

Here are some suggestions that can be used to safeguard for your self esteem and provide the basis for self improvement.

Change = Evolution

There is nothing more certain in life than death, taxes and CHANGE. Most people grudgingly accept death and taxes but fight against change. However, you must not be a stick in the mud fighting change. Change may challenge your beliefs, test your flexibility, adaptability and alter the way you think. But, you can take solace from the fact that the bad and uncomfortable will also change. Change can make life difficult in the short term, it may even cause stress, but it will eventually help you find ways to improve yourself. Change is always with you and must be accepted. You must bend and compromise and use change to help you to continually improve.

Employment

Always be careful of the rat race where the "dog eat dog" attitude is rife. Others will be fighting just to get ahead. Non-appreciative people will thrive in this type of environment. No one will appreciate (let alone express that appreciation) your contributions even if you miss meals and breaks, and stay up late to complete tasks on time. You will have to work without the help or support of the people concerned. Stay out of that race; it can only ruin your self esteem. However, competition is always with you and you must be strong enough to compete, but only where that competition is healthy.

People

Many people will put pressure on your self esteem and seek to lower your opinion of yourself. This is an attempt to improve their own perceived standing. In the early days of building your self esteem they will pose difficulties, but as you develop your self esteem this problem will subside. Therefore it is most important that when you start you are on your guard. These people will consist mainly of those who have had their own self esteem damaged and downgraded.

Experience and Knowledge

It is okay to cry and shout out when we experience pain or suffer disappointment. But don't let the pain transform itself into fear which then grows into paranoia. Treat each failure, mistake and disappointment as a lesson and learn to better yourself from the experience. Also analyze other people's successes and failures and learn from them.

Positivity versus Negativity

Look for the best in whatever you're observing. Be a "half full" kind of a guy. Don't wrap yourself up with all the negativities of the world. Being positive will build your self esteem, learn how to make the best out of the poor situations. Always be positive and do not allow negative thinking influence your progress towards your goals

Determination and Persistence

The way you are and your instinctive behaviour is created by a mixture of inherited traits, upbringing, and environmental surroundings. This will include your spouse, family, employer, the company you keep and your circle of friends. You have your own identity and developing this in your own way is very important. If your father is a failure, it doesn't mean you have to be a failure too.

It is hard to stay focused when things and people around you are trying to pull you down and belittle your efforts.

You must accept that in life you will get hit and bruised and suffer disappointments. Proper protection is provided by your ability to change. Your willingness to change: your attitude, behaviour and way of thinking. Never lose sight of your ultimate goals and persist in your efforts to achieve them.

You have, no doubt, wondered why some people appear to have been born leaders and positive thinkers. THEY ARE NOT! Being positive, and staying positive is your choice. Building self esteem and always aiming for self improvement is a choice, not a rule or a talent.

To summarize: Be positive. Be contented. Be happy. Be appreciative. Never miss an opportunity to compliment. As you develop your self esteem, take control of your mission, your values and your discipline. Self esteem with determination and persistence will bring about self improvement, true assessment, and determination.

Why Self Improvement Does Not Work for Some People

Most people strive to improve themselves in some ways. You may notice that highly ambitious people are always striving to improve in many ways. Yet there are some people who seriously desire to improve themselves but cannot seem to do it. Why?

Ambition may have something to do with it, yet usually it is much more than that. Ambition is really a strong desire. Desire alone does not achieve the results we want. For example, having the strongest desire possible to win a big lottery does not guarantee that you will win it. Ambition to be a billionaire does not guarantee that you will become one.

2 Big Reasons Self Improvement Does Not Work and Exactly How to Change It

There are two big reasons why self improvement does not work for some people. These are the reasons and exactly how to overcome them:

1. Mindset - Some people do not improve their mindset and themselves because of their negative mindset. This needs to change first. The major reason most people do not succeed in something they desire is their mindset. Most experts agree that life is about 90% mindset. Success is 90% mindset. Success in a job or in a business is 90% mindset. Success in self improvement is also based on mindset. Your actions and the results of your actions are determined by your mindset. You must become more aware of your thoughts.

Some people are negative minded, closed minded, apathetic, and unwilling to listen, learn and change. Negativity powers self sabotage. Apathy kills dreams. Closed-mindedness and the unwillingness to listen and learn virtually guarantees that these people will not accept change, transformation and will not be able to succeed. Open your mindset to succeed in improving yourself. Keep it open and positive throughout the process. Do not allow negative self-talk to sabotage your dreams. The more positive you are, the more powerful you will become.

2. Daily Diligence - Some people attend a self improvement event, read a book or listen to some training and learn some techniques, and then they actually do it once or twice and expect dramatic results. Then they wonder why a dramatic change did not happen in them. The answer is that it must be done daily to be fully effective. The daily practice of personal development and self improvement techniques will empower you to find the quickest and easiest way to attract and create what you want in life. You must learn the proper techniques for your personal development and self improvement. You must take action to implement them daily. Remember, self growth is a process not a single event. It is just like exercise or being on a diet; you cannot just do it a couple of times and expect dramatic results. You must keep your goals in mind and stick to the process daily. Invest 30 to 60 minutes per day in yourself by implementing your personal development techniques and you will soon become a new, much more powerful and successful person.

Aspirations:

If you truly desire to go to a higher level in your life-meaning in accomplishment, in income, in creating wealth, in lifestyle, in relationships, in health and happiness-you absolutely must expand into a higher level of being. You must work on your self growth, self improvement or personal development - what ever you want to call it. Keep your big goals in mind and enjoy the process!

Your income and your level of personal success will grow only to the extent that you grow and develop as a person. That is why your process of self growth is so important to you and your future. Believe it! Do it daily!

Why Most Self-Improvement Programs Fail

Have you ever wondered why most self-improvement programs fail? I used to. But after thinking about it for awhile, I realized that there are five main reasons why self-improvement programs fail. Here they are:

People generally fear change. In order to improve ourselves, change is inevitable. We must accept change and allow it to be a part of our lives. Without change, we have nothing other than the status quo.
People want instant results. No one wants to wait. We want results now, if not sooner.
People give up too soon. Self-improvement programs aren't magic bullets. It usually takes time. You most likely have some bad habits to break. Set a time table for yourself before you get started. Set goals for yourself. Be reasonable and realistic. One of the most common mistakes people make is that they overestimate what can be accomplished in a day and underestimate what can be done in a year. Be patient. Stick with it. Results will come.
Instead of "doing", people merely "try". Set your mind to it and do it. Thinking about whatever it is that you're trying to improve is one thing. Actually doing something about it is another. Half the battle is merely taking action. Stop thinking about it and start doing it.
People focus on what instead of why. Spend some time focusing on the "why" and I can almost guarantee that you will see results. The "why" is the benefit (or benefits) of whatever it is that you are doing.
So there you have it. Five key reasons why self-improvement programs often fail. Address those five scenarios and you can put yourself on track successfully improving yourself. Decide how serious you are about getting what you want

4 Self Improvement Tips

Self-improvement is about integrating all the parts within us. Self improvement is not about fix something "out there" but to let go or change something "in here" instead.

If you are eager to have a better and more fulfilling life, read on. I am going to give you 4 simple self-improvement tips to get you started in the right direction.

1. Accept your weakness. Accepting one's faults and developing a self-improvement plan isn't a sign of weakness, but rather an admission that you're accepting change inside by yourself to make it possible for you to become a better person. The most crucial point you have to learn is to accept that you just aren't infallible and that being less than ideal isn't a reflection on your status in life or the individual that you've turn into. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said: " Our strength grows our of our weaknesses".

2. Define your Needs. Before starting a self-improvement plan, you have to be willing to define what you need. Each of us has something we can improve regardless of whether it is our capability to build motivation, to work with our emotions, to overcome jealousy, enhance our communicating with other people, or create better relationships. To be able to build development inside of yourself, you have to identify areas in need of advancement with a self-improvement plan.Let's say you discover that every time you set a goal to lose weight you don't follow through. Your self-improvement plan then must include the following steps: 1) Define your need clearly: I need to build motivation to be able to lose weight and follow through. 2) Ability to set clear goals: To lose 10 pounds in 12 weeks. 3) Techniques to keep you motivated: do affirmations, self-hypnosis, etc.

3. Be open. The self-development program you develop for yourself must contain all of the weaknesses that you've identified individually or using the recommendations from others. This means that you have to be open to others suggestions. To be open means that you are willing to listen to others, to take a quiz, to read a book and so on. Always with an open mind, not taking everything as right or wrong but with the possibility that what you are receiving can help you go to the right direction. Let's say you are attending a workshop on creating better relationships. During the workshop the presenter gives exercises or group exercises you have to do. Even if you are afraid, just do it. Then when you finish you can evaluate the results and decide what is best for you.

4. Associate with positive people. Avoid negative people and complainers. Interacting with this negative people will affect the way you think and feel. Negative people and complainers will drain your energy. Spend as much time as you can with positive people who will help you see life with a different perspective. As Brian Tracy said: " Negative people are like human black holes. These black holes suddenly come out of nowhere and suck the life out of you. You try to stay positive and remain strong, but their negativity ends up completely draining you. They can make you feel exhausted".

The key to self-improvement is self-discipline. Focus on your goals, be open, remain positive and soon you'll find yourself living a more happy and fulfilling life.(c) 2010 Carla Valencia. All rights reserved.

The Only True Self Improvement

When we browse the Web, we can notice that almost every directory has a category that deals with self-improvement. This subject has become very popular. Every human being that at least possesses a little bit of conscience tries to improve herself or is at least interested at a thought of such a striving.

The higher the moral level of a man, the stronger is his or her desire to improve. Those people who are convenient but do not feel very good about themselves if they miss the feeling that they work on their own improvement, will at least read articles and books how to improve themselves, but as a matter of fact, their reading will be the only one thing that they will really do. On the other hand, there are also people who really want to improve themselves and actively try to follow any well-meant piece of advice how to become better.

However, the problem is that hardly any out of all the available advices which are supposed to show you the way how you can improve yourself is really effective and safe. To be frank, I have to say that the most effective way how to improve is even very uncomfortable.

To understand my point of view, you should know that I believe in reincarnation, in harmony in all Nature and in the balance of all the opposites. I also believe that all people together are one whole and because everything is related to any other thing, in the same way the destiny of each one of us is related with the destiny of all other people.

As opposites reign to us all and balance always tries to be restored, we should avoid any extreme in our life to prevent the opposite extreme in the life of other people. If we are too rich, others will have to be too poor. If we are too healthy, others will have to be too ill. If we are too happy, others will have to be too unhappy. If we are too good, others will have to be too bad.

Because we are one whole, then to improve this whole, one must try to improve both himself and all the other at once. To improve all mankind - to help all mankind, it means to help the most suffering ones first of all. But how can they be helped?

Who is ill and cannot be healed, let him enter new body in the next life of his or her soul by euthanasia, who has suffered a serious accident let him be helped by all other people, who is too poor and does not have enough money to life, let him be gifted by the rich.

Remember that if you helped any other man, you helped yourself because if there will be no excessive suffering on the world, neither you soul will have to excessively suffer, whether it will be in it's present or future life. So any help to any other man in fact is a help to yourself. True self-improvement consists in the restriction of one's own happiness for the purpose of helping all the other people by sharing any above-average possession with them.

Everybody should be averagely rich and averagely happy. Only then he will neither suffer too much nor he will cause any occurrence of too much suffering people. Let everybody live in a medium happiness with medium possession and let him have the same price like that of all other people.

Now ask yourself: Are you the rich who will not support the poor with your money? Do you enjoy a good state of health and at the same time do not feel with those who suffer most and you are not willing to bear a part of their big pain on your own shoulders? If it is so, then please stop reading articles and books about self improvement since you will never improve yourself in the proper way. For the only self-improvement is to sacrifice a part of what you've got to help the other. There is no other self-improvement.

7 Hot Tips For Self Improvement Part 2

Self Improvement Tip 4

Don't procrastinate! The more you put something off and something else off, the more all your undesirable chores pile up.

Until they become an insurmountable task that would make a paid cleaning crew shudder. In fact take these chores and work them into your schedule so you will be sure to do them.

Self Improvement Tip 5

If you don't already keep a schedule or make yourself a to-do list each night, this is your cue to start.

A to-do list helps you get things done because it gives you a urgent "must do this today" attitude.

It will also help you remember things that you might have otherwise forgotten. You can put things on them that you're afraid of forgetting, or want to make sure you make time for.

Self Improvement Tip 6

This is by far the most important self improvement tip I could give you. Forgive and Forget.

Either imagined or real slights should always be forgiven. To forget them is to not dwell on them and not remember the angry feelings if you ever look back on that moment.

Let me just tell you this: Holding a grudge will not hurt the begrudged as much as it will hurt you and your personality. As well as your existing relationships.

If there are any ancient or recent rifts or fights between you and a relative, friend, or spouse that are hurting your relationship or have ended it entirely, make amends.

This life is the only life you get, we'll never know when it'll be our or the begrudged person's time to die, and by then it will be too late to say "I'm Sorry".

So pick up the phone or walk up to that person and apologize, even if it wasn't your fault. This may be the last chance you'll get to make amends.

You will be surprised at the feeling you'll get after fixing things up between you. As if a burden has been lifted off your shoulders. This is definitely a step towards self improvement.

Self Improvement Tip 7

Do something kind for someone else. Today! Not just on a birthday or anniversary, but spontaneously.

Buy a rose or other flower for a friend and tell them it's just "because". Because they mean a lot to you, and because you care for them.

Tell your family and friends that you love them. Offer to help a friend with a chore. Babysit for someone you know so they can have a night out.

Help teach a young niece/nephew, son/daughter, brother/sister, etc.... how to read or do some other "grownup" thing.

The list of things you can do is endless, and I'm sure you can procure some ideas of your own on the subject.

Now for your convenience I've summed up all seven self improvement tips:

1. Get up early and jog or watch sunrise

2. Eat breakfast

3. Smile at strangers when you make eye contact

4. Don't procrastinate

5. Keep a schedule or To-Do list

6. Forgive others and Forgive past wrongs

7. Do something for someone else

Remember it's all up to you whether you take these steps in your self improvement plan, but improve it they will.

Be sure you read Part 1 of this article which contains the first 3 self improvement tips.

Self Improvement - 4 Basic Ideas For Self Improvement

Self improvement will not come if you just sit back and wait for it. You must set yourself into motion. To improve yourself, you have to act on the things you want improved.

Women are often among the majority of those who long for positive changes in themselves. Yet, as women, we often neglect ourselves most. If you are among those numbers, here are four basic self improvement ideas you can use:

=> Be kind to yourself. We take care of our families and work hard to provide their needs. At the end of the day, we're all given out. When was the last time you were kind to yourself? Do you attend to your own needs as well? Take some time each day to give back to yourself. If you're having a bad day, don't berate yourself for being in a bad mood. Practice positive self-talk and be kind to yourself.

=> Change one thing. You've heard it said, I'm sure, that you have to start with baby steps. This is so true. To reach greater change, you have to start changing one thing at a time. I was unhappy for several years because I had started college classes a few times, but never followed through and completed college. I finally got tired of that hanging over my head. While my husband was deployed in Iraq, I took advantage of that time alone. I completed classes, that I started years earlier, at my local technology center. If you desire self improvement, change one thing at a time.

=> Be proud of who you are. This is one thing women are horrible at. For some reason, we always feel like we're not good enough. Change that today! Be proud of who you are. Acknowledge your accomplishments and stop focusing on your failures.

=> No more negative self talk. This is key to self improvement. You have to stop the negative self talk. Stop telling yourself how incapable or incompetent you are. You have everything you need to start your self improvement journey today. You will learn as you start this journey. Cancel out the negative self talk with positive affirmations every day.

Vital Self Improvement Tips for Life!

Are you seeking some self improvement tips that might take you to some higher level? Perhaps then we should start with how you think, how you feel, and how you view people.

The thoughts that rush through your head daily do form your emotions and your attitudes about not only yourself but those around you.Your moods and feelings come out of these thoughts and can result in your being happy or being sad or anxious. So if your thoughts and emotions are a large part of determining what kind of person you are or can be then it seems that learning how to improve them would be the keys to your self improvement. So here are some self improvement tips that you could implement in your life that can help you achieve your personal growth:

1.Understand and Project Importance to People Around You. Everyone wants to feel needed and important. This is a basic human need that craves to be satisfied. Yet it is a need that most people ignore and unfortunately many people abuse. Many times individuals look at a person only for what they can do for them. If the answer is not readily apparent then they choose to pass them over. Imagine, however, the respect and loyalty you would gain if you gave respect to these same people. So no matter what their status in life, practice being courteous to people you meet. Make them feel important both to you and them. The additional benefit to this respect you give to others will be that you will also begin to gain self respect for yourself and from others.

2. Be Grateful and Don't Be Afraid to Show It. Express gratitude to people at work, those in your personal life and family. Let your co-workers or employees know how much you need and depend on them. Tell them what a good job they are doing. Tell your family how much they mean to you and that you need and love them.

3. Whenever you are expected to deliver the "goods", bring back more than they thought they should get. This can be with customers at work, with friends and families. Showing them that you are a person willing to go the extra distance to make them happy is priceless.

4. Meditation - It's Good For You! Buddha taught that meditation is the way of dealing with an undisciplined mind. When you attach to your thoughts it can lead to emotional imbalance and behavior that increases suffering. Meditation allows you to observe thoughts without getting attached to them. If you can stay with meditation, it is a good practice that will allow you to purge negative thoughts and emotions.

5. Be Optimistic - You'll Love and Live Longer. It has been proven that optimists do much better than pessimists. You need to identify your self -defeating thoughts and how to purge yourself of them. Once you are trained to recognize habits that give way to negative thoughts you can learn how to substitute them for positive thoughts.

6. Stop Living in the Past! It is all so important to forgive those who have hurt you or that you have hurt. Studies show that many of the people that you feel you have offended don't even remember the incident you anguish over. Get into the present and live it to the fullest. The future will take care of itself.

7. Love Yourself. You can not possibly love others until you love yourself. The start of this article discussed how your thoughts form your emotions and attitudes about yourself and those around you. If you don't feel good about yourself then you won't truly feel good about the people in your lives.

These are 7 practical self-improvement tips that you can start to put in place today to develop your spiritual and personal development for tomorrow.

7 Self Improvement Tips That Can Make A Difference

For those who have been through it, they will tell you that self improvement is a journey. It all depends on where one is starting from. The most important thing however is getting that first step out of the way.

Self improvement comes with the fulfillment that comes from understanding oneself. It is through this understanding that you get to know your place in the universe and your role here. You get to understand that not everything has to be a struggle; you can be successful, rich and happy and fulfil your mission.

As I have studied self improvement over the years, I have picked out 7 self improvement tips that are a must for you to implement so that you can see yourself started on the journey of personal growth. I am going to share them with you in this article.

Daily Journaling

Have you ever wondered how come the world today knows so much about past great achievers? True, people took time out to study them, but a lot of the stories and details that we know about them could only have come from themselves. They are a translation of their thoughts on to paper. They kept journals and recorded their observations and their feelings. For you, a journal is more than a map of your journey. It helps to clarify thought, to think more clearly and to actually see where your thinking may not be so good. You then want to improve. When you record something it becomes more than a fleeting thought. Tomorrow, you will look back and see how you felt, and you will compare with how you feel or think today and you can go ahead and make adjustments.

Meditation

This is the one that is most ignored by most people, but it also happens to be the most important of the 7 self improvement tips. Meditation is the best and most effective way of reducing stress and clearing out your system. You get rid of junk thoughts and best of all, you leave room in there for clean, clear thinking. It also has direct health benefits; you will slow down your heart beat and improve digestion just by meditating for a few minutes each day. You'll sleep better and heal faster. Basically, mediation is the pillar of the 7 self improvement tips - it's the one that makes all the others effective.

Expecting to Win

Of the 7 self improvement tips, this one is the hardest to explain because some people just don't seem to hear it. You need to change your thinking so that you tune yourself to expecting positive results. What is success other than what you think about? How can you get rich and be happy if every outcome you expect is negative? Some people are quick to argue this point, but what they don't realize is that together with their positive thoughts are a lot of negative thoughts that affect outcomes.

Expectations are not about outcomes. They are about bold, right action and knowing that the results will be in your favour no matter what they will be.

Writing Goals and Plans of Action

A written goal is like a map. Let me challenge you right now to write down a small goal, something that's inconsequential and to who's outcome you're not attached and stick it where you can see it every day. The moment you see your goal, you see plans of action about it start to form. You find yourself spurred into action to do the right thing. Go back after 30 days and see how far along your written goal you've come. Did it help to write it?

I will challenge you that every time you feel in a rut and like things aren't working out for you, pull out your goal book and start by ticking off how many of the last lot you have achieved and then adding on new ones. You always come out with a clearer mind.

Be well Rounded

All areas of your life contribute to your self improvement. Your relationships, your health, your finances, will all affect any kind of personal growth you try to achieve if they are out of balance. Just one of them going bad can lead to all of them going bad. As you seek to start on personal development, work on all areas. - work on maintaining physical stamina, emotional fortitude, financial security and a good social support system to achieve personal growth.

Positive Affirmations

This has the power to change your inner dialogue, and it's a powerful tool considering that much of the discontent in our lives is brought about by inner dialogue. What do you say to yourself? Start to write down an affirmation a day on all key areas of your life and rehearse it aloud twice daily. You are teaching you subconscious positive dialogue.

Teach to Learn

Of the 7 self improvement tips, this one is the one that will help you master self improvement the most. You learn something better when you teach it. As you teach, your inner mind opens so that you can be able to digest and transmit information. Whatever you were trying to teach will be sitting there in your mind forever. Teaching is also a way of holding yourself accountable - there are certain standards expected of teachers so that students can follow in their steps. If you have no one to teach, write!

To successful self improvement!

Self Improvement Blog - Worth Your Time?

Is visiting a self improvement blog worth your time? After all, most people don't change. It probably goes without saying that everyone wants to change somehow. Why is there a disconnect between desire and results when it comes to 90% of all people? Moreover, will you be one that wastes your time? If you think it's even remotely possible that you can change, you're already on the best path to actually change.

Time is valuable - Self improvement resources add value

It's so cliche, but time is valuable. The great motivator and self help legend Jim Rohn puts it well when he says that he wouldn't give up a day for anyone... once he found out how valuable they are. You see, we can all get more money, but none of us can get more time. So your time is incredibly valuable and precious, regardless of how you actually treat it. Investing your time into self improvement resources like a self help blog can absolutely be the most valuable activity you do.

Self improvement blogs are valuable

Here's what a personal improvement blog is: personal improvement blogs are like minded people sharing life changing information and personal development skills for free. Again, I want to partially quote Jim Rohn here and ask, what is the problem with free? The problem with free is that it's too easy to overlook it, to discount it. A fine example of this is your most expensive shirt or outfit. You wouldn't wear it casually about while doing just anything like yard work. But what if you found that same shirt on a bargain rack in a consignment shop? If you're like most people you treat things a certain way depending on how much you paid for it, regardless of the items true value.

So this is your warning for "free" information you may find on a self help blog: Take heed to superior self improvement resources and realize you can come across incredibly valuable information, improve your personal development skills and grow beyond what you ever thought possible.

If you don't study self improvement you'll never get better

As a final point, the value of a self improvement blog comes from the fact that it can undoubtedly be your key to a better future. Who is going to teach you how to deal with adversity? Who is going to teach you how to raise your self esteem? Is it your boss? Doubtful. Your parents? By now they've probably done all they are going to do. What about your best friend? Is your best friend going to help you learn to become the better person you know is trapped inside you? Well, have they done enough to help you yet? They aren't going to change you that much. That's a guarantee. If you want to change then you have to do it for yourself. A self improvement blog is a great place to change, and it is literally one very rewarding click away.

If you want to change then get inspired today by reading Robin's self improvement blog. It's always full of completely free, no-nonsense information, motivation, and inspiration. Remember, it is up to you to invest into personal development training and improve yourself.

Self Improvement Tips - How to Develop Your Life For the Benefit of All

Let's start this short article on self improvement tips with a summary of how to go about improving (and developing) your self - possibly the best self improvement advice I could give you, in fact:

"The person who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones." -- Chinese proverb

Yes, no matter where you find yourself, and no matter where you want to go, it is only by continually taking small steps that you can effectively progress further on your journey.

This is deceptively simple self-improvement advice. But powerful, nevertheless. There is always something you can do today to get you where you want to be tomorrow.

And your journey's progress will always be smoother, always, if you take each step with a heart of gratitude. If you can accept what today offers you, even if it is 'less' than you would want from it, and if you can instead notice what you do get from this day, then your journey will be a happier one.

Practicing gratitude, like most things self-improvement, is easier said than done, but it is possible.

Perhaps the first step to take in being grateful is to stop and take notice of any of your friends, colleagues or family members who already do this. Model yourself on those people, and imagine how they would react to a certain situation.

By the way, it's much better to surround yourself with the kind of person you want to be rather than the kind of person you don't like being...

"Do not listen to those who weep and complain, for their disease is contagious." -- Og Mandino

Indeed, Og, indeed.

Okay, some other areas of your life that you would benefit greatly from by improving (as would the people in your life) include:

* Anger Management

This doesn't mean never being angry, nor does it mean being angry all the time. Instead it means a healthy expression of anger, as and when it occurs. Then forget it, and get on with life.

* Assertiveness

Again, this doesn't mean always getting your way - no matter the validity of the other person's position. Instead, and much better, is to aim towards a mutual win-win situation where both parties have been heard, and both parties feel a fair outcome has been reached. Assertiveness is NOT about winning - that is known as 'bullying'.

* Fear

There are so many fears in the world - fear of success, fear of failure, fear of dying, fear of living, fear of commitment, fear of intimacy, fear of heights, fear of spiders... And whilst some of these fears may well be understandable, all of them are irrational, and do not serve any of us that well as we strive to lead full lives.

So overcoming these fears, at a deep level rather than at an intellectual level, WILL improve life's possibilities for you.

Just got to get started, facing these fears, each and every day.

* Love

I bet you didn't know that love is the opposite of fear.

Yes, a love for life, and how it flows, will always overcome a fear of life. A love for self - the 'good bits' and the 'bad' - will always create a person who can love others (and not fear them). A love of everything will always be more enjoyable than a fear of everything.

Love more, fear less, and BE more...

So let me finish this short self improvement tips article, as I started it, with one of those self improvement inspirational quotes you simply cannot argue with. Ruth Casey's words are blunt, and to the point, as you'll see, but never mind...

"It only takes one person to change your life - you." -- Ruth Casey

Yes, you are all you need to start improving your life today! And ain't that a marvelous thing...

The Best Self Improvement Advice the Gurus Never Tell You

There are lots of self-improvement advice available, but which ones are the best? Everyone would want to know what the best-kept secrets are to improving the self. All you have to do is to look in the right places.

A really good self-improvement advice is discipline! Discipline does not mean you lose freedom. One habit down means you get tenfold the benefit. It all depends on how much you are actually willing to let go of some things so you can gain something that would benefit your life more.

Now start by actually starting something! Whenever you are procrastinating, it is important to take a deep breath and avoid thinking negative thoughts. These negative thoughts can affect the way you do whatever you need to be done.

The next step is to try to enjoy what you are doing. Do you remember a time when you started on a hobby and you were able to stay up all night doing it? You can always find ways to motivate yourself to do something. You can think about the reward you're going to get at the end of the day, whether it is money, personal satisfaction, or something you are willing to do for yourself.

Another unique self-improvement advice is to visualize. This may sound so simple to do, but it is definitely effective. Visualization is the process of making a mental image with the goal of rebooting the mind. Visualization is based on the knowledge that the mind has a powerful effect on the body.

Visualizing can help you actualize what you tell yourself: "I can do this!" The first step is to fully relax yourself by imagining all muscles beginning to contract from your forehead down to your shoulders until your toes. The next step is to imagine you are crossing something like a bridge, to indicate to yourself that you are crossing over to your subconscious. You may then imagine the desired outcome of reaching your goals. The final step is to imagine that you have already reached that desired outcome.

A similar self-improvement advice is to try hypnosis. A therapist can help you with this. During a normal mental state, many individuals will not be able to admit certain bad habits. When you subconsciously face what needs to be improved in your life, you will have gotten rid of those negative habits you were never even aware.

The final self-improvement advice is meditation. This is very linked to the previous techniques mentioned. When you are trying to improve yourself and caught up in a roller coaster ride at the same time, meditation can help you clear your mind. A clearer mind means you'll be able to focus more on yourself and what you really want out of life.

To meditate, keep away from distraction and take long deep breaths while releasing all tense muscles. Mentally ask questions regarding who you really are. Ask yourself what you like to do, what made you proud of yourself, how content you really are in life and what is more important to you, and try to answer these questions everyday with actions.

Any self-improvement advice will only be effective if you are determined to change. You are your own boss when it comes to self-improvement. So be open to possibilities as much as possible!

Don't be disappointed if world refuse to help you out remember words of Einstein - "I m thankful to all those who said NO, its because of them I did it myself".

Here I provide you with some tips, which can help you to self improve yourself to a better you:

Positive attitude is the key to self improvement. Negativity of world can't put you down unless you allow it to get inside you. So, avoid negative thoughts.
Believe in yourself. Maybe your ideas wont be appreciated by the people around you but you are unique and so are your ideas. Ideas of great scientists like Sir Einstein were never understood by anyone but he is the man who created history.
Life is very simple. Its just our attitude towards it that makes it complicated. So, love your life and yourself.
Never give up. Keep trying. Give your best and leave the rest to your fate. Make motivation as your steering wheel. Always remember - Quitters never win and winners never quit.
Be happy. Celebrate your life every moment. Do all the things that make you happy. Don't care about what others are going to think. Just see that no one is hurt in this process.
Spend time with your family and friends. These are the people who know you the best. You can just be yourself when you are with them and that will make you happy.
Dreams give direction to your life. Hang on to your dreams. But just dreaming wont help. It is said that God also help those who help themselves. So, make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put to practice.
Ignore those who want to destroy you. Don't let them get over you. Be confident and firm about your decisions. There is lot of jealousy around and others might not be able to handle your success. Stay away from such people, they are not your friends.
Take control over your life. You are the master of your life and no one except you have any right to stand in your place and make your decisions. People can advice but the final decision is yours. Discipline, self control and self improvement go hand in hand.
It's OK to make mistakes. People fall and that is how they learn to stand up. Learn from your mistakes. Future chances will always come. Make room for self improvement.
Help people when they need you. Motivate them to get back on to their lives and you'll get motivated yourself. If they are depressed doesn't mean that even you go into the depression zone. If you create positive vibes in your environment then self improvement is bound to happen.
Self improvement is a tool to success but it is a slow process. Take one thing at a time. A good quality product takes time to develop.
Appreciate things around you. If we praise the beauty of people around us than they see how beautiful we are. It's not always the outer beauty that is attractive. Inner beauty makes people wonderful.
Success is the ultimate End Product of Self Improvement. It comes from self confidence, self appreciation and self esteem.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. When we open our doors for self improvement, we increase our chances to head to the road of success. Change is an important part of our life and these trivial changes (mentioned above) in your attitude will lead to a self improved you. So keep trying and keep smiling.

What Is Self Improvement? 8 Tips for Self Improvement

They say that there is no better way to help you than through yourself, and this leads to the question what is self improvement? Also known as self help, self improvement refers to things that you can do to make your life better. It involves knowing your weakness and trying to work on them. This can be your attitude towards life and others, physical outlook or emotional health. By improving yourself you will have an opportunity to enjoy your life to the fullest. Check out some tips which you can use to make yourself better.

Tip #1: Begin the day well

Beginning the day with a positive attitude can help you to stay positive throughout the day. You should therefore make it a rule to start your day in a positive way. Wake up early and do something constructive such as jogging or mediation before leaving for work or school. If you are a student, you can wake up early to study when the mind is still fresh. So you got your first answer to what is self improvement; have a good start!

Tip #2: Have a positive attitude

There is a saying that when you start thinking positively you will start seeing positive outcomes in your life. It is true that what we think is what we are. You should therefore try to find something positive about every situation even when it seems impossible. Instead of cursing and blaming others because we do not have a car, thank God that you have legs to walk to job. Instead of complaining that we do not live in a mansion, how about thanking our families for providing a roof over our head? Appreciating the small things in life is the key to achieving big thins.

Tip #3: Keep positive company

The company we keep plays a key role in our thoughts. If you are always in the company of people who are always complaining and criticizing you are likely to become like them. No wonder the saying 'birds of a feather flock together'. You should therefore watch your company at all times.

Tip #4: Have goals

You must know what you want to achieve in order to help yourself. We should set realistic goals especially when it comes to our financial status. Once you have your goals you will need to work hard and be disciplined in order to achieve them. In addition, you can motivate yourself by rewarding your efforts.

Tip #5: Take a break

Being a workaholic is not a bad thing, but it is good to take a short break once in a while. This will give your body time to relax so when you go back to work you will have a clear mind. You can take breaks in between working sessions and have a chat with your colleagues. Alternatively, you can go for a short holiday on a weekend.

Tip #6: Overcome your fears

The worst thing you can do to yourself is not to do something because you are afraid. It is true that overcoming your fears sets a platform for success. Once you have overcome your fears there will be no stopping you.

Tip #7: Give to others

Those who give to others always receive back. Giving does not always to be in form of money. We can be polite to our colleagues, smile at others and compliment them when they do a good job. You will be surprised at how people can change and be willing to help when you show them love.

Tip #8: Always learn from your past

There is no better answer to what is self improvement and how to achieve it than by learning from our past mistakes. A man who does not let his past experiences discourage him has a better chance of improving than one who gives up after the first trial. This is because when you do something several times you will know what to avoid and what to do next time and this creates room for improvement. We can therefore say that the best way to help ourselves is to never repeat our past mistakes.

You have to make a decision that you want to change and work towards changing your situation in order to become a better person. Now you have your answer to the question "what is self improvement?"

Using the Law of Attraction As a Process For Self Improvement

Everyone has room for self improvement. Even Jesus had issues that needed to be resolved. I believe this is one of the main reasons we are all here in this reality. Becoming a better person is a natural impulse even in the most hardened criminal. For some it is just easier to recognize the path that must be followed in order to becoming a better person.

From my experience I feel that most people think that self improvement means only working on themselves. Many take up meditation, some volunteer work, and still others read about what to do in order to have a more full and meaningful life. Take a look around; are you alone? Obviously the answer is no. We are sharing this planet with billions of others. So why do we think that self improvement is a task we should tackle on our own? There are so many others that can help us get to a stage in our lives where we feel good about ourselves and are a service to others.

It was at this point that I realized that self improvement is about the Self. And as far as I can tell there is only one Self (notice the capital S). We are all a part of the whole. There is no separation from the universal energy that makes up everything we see and feel. So looking at it from this view when we say self improvement, we are really looking at that part of the Self that is our self. This may sound confusing at first, but if you think about it, what else could there be? If we were alone on an island would self improvement be of any use?

So having said all that; sounds a bit weird even as I write it, how do we go about Self Improvement? This is where we learn that relationships are the key to everything. And relationships are not only with others but with everything that exists in our little world we call reality. How you relate to mother earth and all her creatures, her plants, the air we breath - everything. To be in total harmony with all that we share on this planet is the path to Self Improvement. By doing so we enhance the experience we all can share in this garden of Eden; and yes we were never kicked out, we were just given a warning; Improve or you will be banished!

So where does the Law Of Attraction fit into all this? Simple, through your will to improve the Self you will attract all that is good and nourishing from the universal giver. A well meaning person who directs his or her energy in achieving a better life and a better world will put into motion the process that will lead to Self Improvement. I acknowledge that much has been written about the Law of Attraction. In this article I am not using it in the same context for getting riches, or other material needs met. I am simply using the term to describe how to attract the things that one needs to become a better person and thereby making this planet a better home for everyone today and for all future generations.

Finally, I would like to say something that has been with me for most of my life. I believe it was Buddha who said, "no one is truly enlightened until everyone is enlightened". So truly we are not alone on the road to Self Improvement. Let's reach out and help each other - let's get there together!

I am a firm believer in maintaining an active lifestyle. There are no magic bullets to good health. Eating the right foods, getting plenty of exercise and of course spending quality time with loved ones. I have been truly blessed with many people in my life. Understanding myself and building relationships is rewarding in so many ways.

5 Steps to a Solid Self Improvement Plan

Self improvement is not merely a subject of academic interest pursued by a handful of erudite people. It is something that can be practically followed by each one of us to improve our lives or achieve a specific goal. A self improvement plan is comprised of a series of steps that can be taken to improve one's skill and abilities in order to make the desired change.

It is important to realize that self improvement begins as soon as the "self" in you assumes control of your life. Many among us fail to improve our lives even after reading hundreds of self-help books simply because the motivation must come from within.

Although there are no specific set of rules applicable to self improvement because every individual has different goals, there are some common steps you can follow.

1. Accept: Contrary to popular opinion, acceptance is not the same as capitulation. Acceptance helps you to acknowledge the existence of a problem. This acknowledgment allows you to put things in perspective and gives a sense of direction. You cannot resolve a problem if you do not believe it exists.

2. Make a plan: This is the most important part of any successful self improvement plan. Be specific about what you want to do and outline practical steps for its implementation. At the same time, your plan must be able to adapt to any unforeseen changes coming your way. Stubbornness is different from resilience, so be flexible about plans. But do not lose sight of the big picture.

3. Seek help: Self improvement does not mean that you must do everything by yourself. Involve your family, friends, mentors and peers in this life changing process and see the difference. There is no shame in seeking assistance from those who care about us.

4. Implement and celebrate: It is now time for you to take the practical steps outlined during your plan formulation. Divide your target into a set of smaller goals and take realistic steps. This will enable you to steer clear of frustration. Also, recognize and celebrate every success of yours, regardless of how insignificant it may be. Some people are so focused on the eventual goal that they forget to celebrate small successes along the way.

5. Reassess your plan: Keep reassessing the plan periodically and make relevant changes in order to avoid stagnation. It is also important to reassess your target from time to time as you might have already reached it and it is time for you to set newer goals.

These are some of the ways in which you can make and implement your self improvement plan. Remember, only you have the power to make the desired difference in your life.

The 31 Absolute Best Resources for Self Improvement

Every week, I hear from people with the same Self Improvement questions: Where should I go for help? What should I do? Who should I listen to?

This article is designed to help you explore all of the people, places and things available to help you improve your life starting today.

Right off the bat, I want to share with you some very good news: There are literally DOZENS of places to go and people to talk to when it comes to Self Improvement. The only problem is that it can difficult to comprehend and evaluate all of these options. That's why I've compiled a complete list of 31 Self Improvement resources. Consider it a brainstorming session to help you think about and understand all of the different choices available.

I've divided the list into five sections, and for each section, I include the pros and cons of using those particular resources. Basically, I want you to use this list for two reasons:

-- To get you thinking about all of the different resources available to you, and

-- To get you thinking about their advantages and disadvantages, so you can appropriately choose the right one(s).

So, how many of these resources have YOU used to improve your life?

YOUR IMMEDIATE CIRCLE OF CONTACTS (1-4)

As a general rule, the people in this group are more likely to give you personal attention, and they are more likely to sincerely care about your needs. There are two things to look out for, though. These people are not necessarily experts in the areas where you need to improve, and they might have their own agenda. But they are generally easily accessible and can be great resources.

1. Your Friends

2. Your Family

3. Co-workers

4. Your Employer (boss or manager)

INFORMATION RESOURCES (5-12)

There is an unbelievable wealth of information out there to improve your life. On the Internet alone, there are over five million websites with the exact phrases of "Self Help" or "Self Improvement." On Amazon.com, there are over 190,000 books with references to these topics. Almost all the information you are looking for can be found here, but it could take hundreds of lifetimes to find the right information for you. Which of these resources do you currently use to help you improve your life?

5. Internet Websites

6. Books (Library, Bookstore)

7. Seminars, Retreats

8. High School, College or Continuing Education Courses.

9. Audio Programs

10. Television and Video Programs

11. Radio

12. Other Media, Magazines, Movies, Music

TRAINED PROFESSIONALS (13-22)

A trained professional can help you survive and thrive in many areas of your life. Many have worked with people in your exact circumstances and helped them find the answers they were looking for. As a general rule, professionals can provide you with more objectivity than you would get from a friend or family member.

One of the challenges of working with trained professionals is finding one that is suitable for you. It is important to find the right type of trained professional (i.e.--therapist or personal coach) and then the best person based on your background, needs, and personality. Trained professionals can be very expensive to work with and in some instances have a stigma attached to them. But in many cases, the benefits of working with a trained professional far outweigh the costs and the risk.

13. Therapists (Professional Counselors, Psychologists)

14. Personal Coaches, Life Coaches

15. Clergy (i.e.--Priest, Minister, Rabbi)

16. Accountant, Attorney, Stockbroker, Financial Planner

17. Self Improvement Experts (Tony Robbins, Dr. Phil)

18. Librarians

19. Personal Trainer

20. Doctors and Other Health Care Professionals

21. Employment Experts (Job Placement Experts)

22. Psychics, Spiritualists, Yogis

ORGANIZATIONS (23-25)

I am using the term "organizations" in a very broad sense. These can include non-profit and for-profit organizations and both professional and social organizations. The biggest benefit that many of these organizations provide is the ability to work with, network with, and share experiences with people in the same boat, on the same mission, or with the same problem. These organizations frequently have "trained professionals," often have people who are our friends and family, and use "Known Information Resources" to help each of us grow. These types of organizations are not for everybody, and the benefits that you get back are tied directly into what you are contributing. The wrong group could be a waste of time, but the right group could change your life forever.

23. Non-Profit Support Groups (i.e.--AA, Child Support Groups)

24. Social and Professional Organizations (i.e.--Toastmasters, MENSA)

25. Spas, Health Clubs

26. Personal Support Network (Master Mind Groups)

OTHERS POTENTIAL AREAS (27-31)

The above areas covered countless resources to improve your life. Here I have included some additional areas that others have found helpful in the past. As you can see, there is a tremendous amount of overlap between the different resources.

27. Free Government Resources (Hotlines, Brochures, Help Centers)

28. Inner Guidance (Asking and Giving Yourself Help)

29. Pets for other wisdom (Great listeners)

30. Mentors

31. God

Now that you have gone through the whole list, I have an assignment for you. I want you to evaluate each of the areas above and try to determine which of these has helped you the most in the past. Then see which resources you can use to make your future a bright one.

FINAL NOTE

What Is The Invisible Killer of Self Improvement Techniques Sometimes?

One may ask, why don't self-improvement systems always work for me? Aren't they most often well- reviewed books or courses and don't they clearly work well for many people? Then why doesn't a particular one I have bought work for me, when I really, really want it to work? Is the invisible killer lurking in that book or course? No! I would wager it is lurking within yourself.

Does it mean my wish to adopt the new skill or process is lacking?

Most often, no, because clearly you do want to change.

Could there be some obvious reason guaranteeing my failure which only I have not recognised?

Again, most often, No! It is likely that no-one else has spotted the real reason either.

Then, you might ask, is it simply because the key to achieve the change does not lie in the book or the course? Doesn't it lie in my head and my heart? And what has been lacking previously is the full hearted and total intellectual commitment to it. Without that, isn't that why I have not succeeded in past attempts?

Yes that is closer to the hidden truth!

But before you rush back to the self-improvement material with not only a new-found zeal but with your will energised to make it happen this time, there is a formal caution. Please do not think applying all the will you can muster will do the trick. It may briefly, but as soon as you relax the will, your particular normal behaviour will return and the possibility to sustain change will slip through your fingers. So, personally, I would not recommend that approach!

So let's look at where that leaves you? I suspect that you believe you have acquired the detailed tutorial system as to how to solve a current emotional or financial issue. More to the point you believe you have satisfied yourself that that system involved is effective and workable. And now you really want to solve your issue in order to rid yourself of the inhibitions your current situation causes you. So, you might go back to square one and say that all I need to do now is read it diligently and then apply it

But haven't you tried to do just that before and it didn't work?

The surprise is that the invisible killer to self-improvement techniques most often resides within us; it has been harboured by us very often for years and relates to one or more cognitive issues of self-image, self-worth, self-esteem, or even believe it not spirituarity.

So how can one best address this?

As acknowledged, intellectually, we can see our current problem perfectly clearly. Equally we can see how, if adopted by us, the self-improvement technique would work and provide us with a solution. But emotionally or spiritually it is different. Deep inside, we could have a different problem which is handicapping us.

It is this. To acquire the self-improvement technique could put us so far out of a largely sub-conscious comfort zone. We were barely aware of its existence until the current situation unearthed it. No matter what, and no matter how hard we read or study, we are somehow neutered by this.

Consider this! Suppose the new technique is a wealth creation system. Maybe our family was never wealthy, in fact it eschewed wealth creation and counselled a frugal life. So, maybe consciously as a young person we wanted to change all that, but sub-consciously we did not. Why? Because we did not want to be seen to be disloyal to that long-standing family culture.

Maybe the self-improvement technique we have obtained is in itself a self-improvement technique which can be made available to others. Nevertheless we have this sub-conscious doubt that if we cannot learn it then nor will they. So as we study, we are actually always doubting and questioning.

Maybe it is admitted by the creators of the technique that it is very profitable largely because so many people buy it although very few actually apply it. While for some that is no issue, ( they say: it is not for me to make a judgement about whether the purchasers adopt it or not') for you it may be different. Maybe you are not comfortable about that. So your actual buy-in and commitment to the technique is muted and fails.

Of course it could be more simple still. It could be that you want to change, but you have a nagging doubt and lack of any sense of self-worth to pull it off.

I would suggest that you reflect quietly and honestly at the outset. Imagine you have completed the self-improvement. Visualise it completely and in your mind and your heart assess how you feel about that. Notice how little emotional indicators will pop as feelings you can identify. They could be intense or minor.

My advice is that you feel those feelings and decide on one of two outcomes.

First, if the feelings are not all-enveloping or traumatic, then take a deep breath and get cracking on the new technique, silencing yourself when the negative feelings reappear.

Or second, accept the feelings amount to a real emotional block. On that basis, it is best to investigate the origin. So take the preliminary step of seeking out advice or a book on that block before embarking on your main solution.

One amazing feature of our age is that there is not one single narrow aspect of Life that there isn't at least one book written on it. So obtain it and first enjoy the sense of self-discovery as well as the later and more likely acquisition of your new skill or solution.

Good luck with it.
